Summary

A dazzling Audible Original written by Natalie Cooper, performed by Jenna Coleman (Victoria, The Cry)

Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape.

But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

Hired as a consultant at the firm where Iris works as engineering manager, Hunter has a knack for knowing just what to say to irritate her, and Iris can’t help rising to the spark in his eyes each time.

Sent away on a work trip together, Iris is taken out of her comfort zone. As their connection deepens, will Iris finally be able to face the memories that have been haunting her for years? Can her blossoming relationship with Hunter survive some brutal truths?

Only one thing is certain: The spark between them is beyond Iris’s expertise, and there's no running away from it.

really loved the twists and turns ... it was about grief, love, finding new love... and I really felt like it was very straightforward at first until later. nice easy listening.

Modern day mills & boon

Terribly predictable from the get go. Very mills and boon. Nicely read though in the main.

okay for a free read

I predicted the "twist" when I still had 2 hours left so was too far in to not find out.
kept me listening but figured it out sadly.
oh and tongue being pronounced "tong" was a tad annoying but could be just me.

Captivating

What an enjoyable listen I had with this book! Story flowed easily and kept me engaged throughout. Characters where well thought out and detailed descriptions had me easily imagining them in my mind. Storyline was well written and thought provoking I find myself wishing it hadn’t finished already.

BEST audiobook EVER 😎

Absolutely loved it. I was tempted to listen to it ALL in a day but a voice told me that I had to make it mine and so I Took my time with it and am so glad I did. Looking forward to listening to it all over and over again. Jenna Coleman has the GREATEST voice in the WORLD and is also the GREATEST actress in the WORLD and this Scottish Idiot can't wait to see or hear whatever she releases NEXT.. I'm living for her projects and they have helped me so much over the last SEVEN years with the grief of losing my Dad, my partner and especially losing the love for MYSELF. I'm gonna get better soon and hopefully I'm lucky enough to meet Jenna again and tell her Thank You. Thank You to everyone involved in bringing this book to my ears especially the author, Natalie Cooper I want you to know it will forever be a comfort to me when I'm not feeling like myself. You're the BEST people EVER 😎 Here's your trophy 🏆 You deserve it. Love yous hunners.

Jenna Coleman saved this.

Iris is incredibly annoying. Hunter is creepy and would be straight in front of HR for inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.
The storyline just drags on and on.
I hope they paid the voice actor well because without her I would have given up on this.
It is as if someone watched a Korean romance series and then removed all the charm and transcribed it into English.
The interactions just don’t make any sense. Nobody can even breathe without paragraphs of overanalysing it.
I admire the writer for staying awake and finishing this.
