i really wanted to give this book more than three, I chose it for the narrator as Charlie is really good at voices, and her American accents are fab (although it takes a while to not imagine Dolly Parton reading it) however, as another reviewer mentioned it ends really abruptly, and on looking at the summary for another book by this author it's obvious this is the sequel to that book. It would have made heaps more sense if it was mentioned, especially as this book is in the free catalogue. I imagine they'll be more books leading on from this one, which is perhaps why it ended so abruptly with more questions than answers?

I was absolutely hooked in the first chapter of this brilliant book. I love the way that the author keeps you guessing all the time about what will happen, and just when you think you've worked it out there's another brilliant twist. Tamsins narration is as usual, her Scottish accents are perfect. I will definitely read other books by this author and narrator.

I'd read a book by Greg Prado before so I knew it'd be well researched - and being a bass player I was eager to read this to see who'd be in his list of 100. The term "rock" didn't really fit in with many of the players he put in the 100, James Jameson, Jako, Donald Duck Dunn ETC. However I enjoyed the way each player was presented - especially the added info of what bass's they used/wheterh they used a pick or fingers. It's certainly opened my ears to a heap of players I hadn't heard before. Would certainly recommend it to bass players - or anyone with a passing interesting of different musical genres.

When I was a teenager, you liked either Nirvana )definitely) or GnR )absolutely no way!! But, having just started to play bass I was really interested to read Duff's account of his life. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought, and kept wondering what would happen next whenever I stopped listening to it for a while. I will echo something which I think was said in other reviews, it would have been better if Duff had read it himself - but I guess he's heaps too busy to do that! I wish Audible had his other book, how to be a man, I'll have to try and read that one.

Some of the reviews of this book were quite dispassionate, but I was really keen to read it from a psychotherapist and huge rock fan point of view. Others have suggested Nikki is narcicistic and horrid, but listening to his diaries made me feel that he was just a lost little boy trying to navigate his way through life. I've read quite a few books about musicians addictions and the constant thing I keep thinking is: "Why didn't anyone see how much these people were struggling - why did nobody help!" The ending made me cry, Nikki speaks candiddly about his continuing journey - and I wish him and his family all the best for the future.

I absolutely hate returning books - and I'm a huge fan of Shaleni's books, but I found this one to be a little bit too long (hence the reason for not giving it five stars) Katie Villa was brilliant at narrating as usual, but I just felt the end was drawn out. It kind of felt like when you write an essay and there's a word count, so you just write anything to reach the right number. I'll certainly keep listening to Shaleni's books, as I know she's an amazing writer, this book just wasn't one I enjoyed the most.

This has been on my book list for ages, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As other reviewers have mentioned it's a bit Lian Moriartyish, which is great as she's one of my favourite authors. The narrator was brilliant! If it hadn't been for the wonderful interview with her and the author at the end I'd never have known she wasn't a native Aussie - her narration was brilliant.
The twist at the end was one that made me say "Wowza!!" out loud. I'll definitely be listening to more Sally Hepworth books

I adored Lesley Kara's the rumour, so when I found she'd done a podcast I was very happy. It's brilliant, she hosts it with Lauren North who has such a warm, comforting and lovely voice. I've never read any books by Lauren (I've got a new author I can read as well) plus heaps of book recommendations - and this was only the first podcast!!! I love psychological thrillers so a podcast about them is pure bliss! Thanks Lesley and Lauren

I pre-ordered this and started it as soon as it was in my library. I'm a trainee psychotherapist and a huge music fan so it was the perfect book. Ian's narration is warm and caring and the compassion for the people he writes about is really evident. I knew about a lot of the musicians he writes about but it didn't make their stories any easier to listen to. In fact - it made me sad for the things they could have done and the people they could have been if they'd had the right support.
Ian writes candidly about his own struggles with addiction.
I will warn you that there is - a lot of swearing, so if you're offended by really sweary words, it's probably not the book for you.

My friend gifted me this a while ago, but as my retired guide dog had recently died I couldn't bring myself to listen to another book about dogs. Having read Matt Hague's the last family in England (which has a similar premis) I can finally listen to dog books. This was such a heart-warming book told from the point of view of the family dog. It has heaps of humour and there was one part I had tears flowing!!! Matt Reeves's narration was perfect, I'll definitely be listening to other books he's narrated. Thoroughly recommend.
