I imagine this book will divide opinion somewhat but I reckon if you enjoy his stories on ‘Would I Lie To You’ then you’re probably in safe hands. It’s a simple story but delivered in a typically imaginative and slightly abstract way - the turn of phrase will also be familiar to his fans. Oh and train guy kind of makes an appearance!

I wasn’t sure for the first few chapters but I stuck with it and the story developed really nicely. Ok the strokes are a bit broad (Ian Ventham is really 2-D) but the nuanced plot snakes around to great effect, keeping you guessing til the end.
