Story
After a trumped-up trial, Charlie Muffin lands in jail for treason - ready to learn the secrets of his fellow inmate, a convicted British traitor. Nobody expected KGB agents to stage a prison break to free their man. Charlie faces another choice: go to Moscow to complete his assignment or face 40 long years in prison. It doesn’t take him long to decide. Charlie doesn’t have the full picture, of course, which is the way of espionage. But Charlie doesn’t regret his Iron Curtain escape, as it leads him to Natalia Fedova, the KGB interrogator assigned to determine if his defection is genuine or staged.

It was a pleasure to hear someone speak about the human condition with such clarity and compassion.
There is much here that you will already know, at least subconsciously but to hear it set out and explained so well is instructive.
There will also be much here that is new, even surprising to you and these aspects are all the more fascinating.
The importance of the healthy functioning individual to society cannot be overstated. To achieve a meaningful life is difficult and requires attention, truthfulness and courage but it is eminently achievable.
Having read Jordan Peterson's book it is difficult not to conclude that his many critics have not. Or worse, that they have read it, but have deliberately chosen to misrepresent what is written.

Story
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the tattered manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has little idea it will change her life. She's worked with the revered crime writer for years, and his detective, Atticus Pund, is renowned for solving crimes in the sleepy English villages of the 1950s. As Susan knows only too well, vintage crime sells handsomely. It's just a shame that it means dealing with an author like Alan Conway.... But Conway's latest tale of murder at Pye Hall is not quite what it seems.

Great adventure story with strong characters. Very gory in places but given the setting that's no surprise.
