Story
It all happens so quickly. One day you're living the dream, commuting to work by riverbus with your charismatic neighbour Kit in the seat beside you. The next, Kit hasn't turned up for the boat and his wife, Melia, has reported him missing. When you get off at your stop, the police are waiting. Another passenger saw you and Kit arguing on the boat home the night before, and the police say that you had a reason to want him dead. You protest. You and Kit are friends - ask Melia, she'll vouch for you.

I had never heard of Vanessa Frake until i saw a clip about her on tiktok. her story of being governor of the top prisons caught my attention. i was excited to discover her book available on audible! I was hooked from the first line. vanessa a fair and firm, straight talking woman tries to take on the war against drugs. Some famous names pop up but as part of the story and not name dropping. Vanessa's story made me laugh, gasp and cry. A story of hoping to change against a male led carreer. 5 stars.

Story
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.
