Story
This is the memoir music fans have been waiting for. Half of one of the greatest creative partnerships in popular music, Bernie Taupin is the man who wrote the lyrics for Elton John, who conceived the ideas that spawned countless hits, and sold millions and millions of records. Together, they were a duo, a unit, an immovable object. Their extraordinary, half-century-and-counting creative relationship has been chronicled in biopics and memoirs, but Taupin, a famously private person, has kept his own account of their adventures close to his chest, until now.

Well - I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A longtime Elton & Bernie fan, I couldn’t wait to read this book
I love the fact that Bernie, a man supremely adept with words, doesn’t disappoint by using a myriad of colourful words to explain any single event. This works well with my own byline of “Why use 5 words when there are so many more available”
Wordy it is, name-dropping abounds and, whilst there are plenty of mentions of the more flamboyant off this pairing, Bernie’s life is one of the creative man ever evolving
It will be a favourite of mine, despite the naysayers
I recommend taking the 15 hours plus to see what makes the accomplished storyteller exactly who he is - a poet, lyricist and, glorious storyteller
Highly recommended

Not up to the author’s usual standard
Reviewed: 25-01-23
I think this story should come with a trigger warning - some of the details regarding birth and infant death are graphic & also harrowing.
I listened right the way through despite, like many others, predicting the ending very early on
The story could have been half as long and would undoubtedly have received more favourable comments
It’s a good, plausible story but Oh so laboriously told - repetitive and, in the end, infuriating
I’ll continue to try this author’s works because I have thoroughly enjoyed their other audiobooks that I’ve listened to thus far

Story
Billie is looking forward to a quiet, man-free Christmas. It’s just a shame her family doesn't feel the same way. With a house full of unexpected (and unwanted) guests, Billie needs to find the perfect escape to get away from the chaos. So when her dating app recommends a week of singles nights in her area, Billie decides that braving these events has to be better than making conversation with her dad’s new wife, dealing with her mum's mid-life crisis or witnessing her sister flirting with her insufferably arrogant next-door neighbour.

Story
On paper, Merina Wilde has it all: a successful career writing the kind of romantic novels that make even the hardest hearts swoon, a perfect carousel of book launches and parties to keep her social life buzzing and a childhood sweetheart who thinks she’s a goddess. But Merry has a secret: the magic has stopped flowing from her fingers. Try as she might, she can’t summon up the sparkle that makes her stories shine.
