Tecno’s new ultrabook dazzles with both design & internals
Tecno means business when it comes to market expansion to global markets. The company had plenty to say at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. We’ve seen some compelling phones announced, such as the Tecno Camon 30 Premier and POVA 6 Pro 5G. In addition to that, some new technologies were presented. Another announcement that Tecno made is of a new laptop, the Tecno MEGABOOK T16 Pro 2024 Ultra, and we’ve decided to send one of our MWC 2024 awards to that device. It’s sleek, powerful, and has AI smarts.
Tecno’s top-of-the-line ultrabook
The Tecno MEGABOOK T16 Pro 2024 Ultra is one sleek-looking device. It’s made out of metal, and both quite thin and light. This is supposed to be an ultrabook through-and-through. As you can see in the provided images, it has thin bezels around the display, especially the side ones, and the one above the display. It features a screen-to-body ratio of 90%, which is, needless to say, quite high. Its display also comes with 100% sRGB color accuracy, while TUV certification for low blue light emission is included as well. On top of everything you’re also getting the DC auto-dimming feature. Speaking of which, it includes a 16-inch 2.5K display.
There are three CPU configurations on offer, with the Intel Core Ultra 7 and 5 chips. 16GB and 32GB LPDDR5 RAM models are on offer, with 512GB and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, respectively. To make things even better, a large 99.99Wh battery sits on the inside here. That is quite surprising considering the sleek form factor, but there you go. Tecno claims that you can get up to 22 hours of usage on a single charge, which is not something many ultrabooks can say for themselves, that’s for sure, if a single one. Tecno also included a 100W GaN fast charger here. With a 30-minute charge, the battery level jumps from 0 to 50%, claims the company.
Ports galore & AI smarts
Are you tired of ultrabooks not having ports? Well, that’s something you won’t be missing here. There are a bunch of ports included. You’re basically getting everything you may want here, so no dongles are necessary. On the left side, you’ll find both USB-A and USB-C ports (3.1), and a HDMI 1.4 port. There’s also a safety lock included here. On the left side, two USB-A 3.0 ports are located, an audio jack, and a microSD card slot. A fingerprint scanner sits above the keyboard on the front side, and the keys themselves have a 1.5mm travel. These are membrane keys we’re looking at. The touchpad has a ceramic panel on it, and it’s pressure-sensitive.
Tecno included ‘Three AI Engines’ here, and claims the laptop offers “70% faster generative AI efficiency”. AI image generation should be very fast on this device, and it enables you to perform a number of AI tasks offline. All in all, there’s a lot to like here, as Tecno really went all out when it comes to the Tecno MEGABOOK T16 Pro 2024 Ultra.
