Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its first flip model, the MIX Flip. Actually, the brand developed its first Flip model in 2021, codenamed “argo” and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. But Xiaomi had abandoned introducing this model. In 2021, the first generation of the MIX FOLD was released instead of the MIX Flip. A long time has passed and now the MIX Flip is coming.
MIX Flip camera specs leak
GSMChina has already leaked some specifications of the MIX Flip. The new smartphone, codenamed “ruyi“, will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650). They’ve also prepared a render image, which is based on predictions. On the back there will be a dual camera setup and in addition there will be a small screen below the camera.
This mysterious smartphone from Xiaomi is highly anticipated. Now the Android Headlines team is revealing the MIX Flip’s camera sensors. Based on the information from the HyperOS source code, I’ll be bringing you everything about the MIX Flip.
The new foldable smartphone will feature the Light Hunter 800 (ovx8000) camera sensor. This sensor is based on Omnivision’s OV50E sensor. The Light Hunter 800 stands out with its 50MP resolution and 1/1.55-inch sensor size. Because it’s a camera sensor previously used in models like the Redmi K70 Pro.
When we come to our auxiliary camera, we see the Omnivision OV60A. This sensor has a 60MP resolution, 1/2.8-inch sensor size and 0.61µm pixels. The OV60A is used in the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, Edge 30 Ultra, and many other smartphones. We may ask why the OV60A, which is usually used for the front camera, is on the back of the MIX Flip.
We said that the MIX Flip will have a small screen directly below the camera section. With this screen, you will be able to check your notifications and also take selfie photos with the rear cameras. Xiaomi has included the OV60A in the MIX Flip for this reason. Thanks to the OV60A camera sensor, you will also be able to do 2x Optical zoom.
The Chinese brand is not limited to this, and we see that we have added the OV32B selfie camera as an extra for any special use cases. MIX Flip will have a 32MP Selfie camera. OV32B was used in models such as Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Motorola Edge 40.
We think the new smartphone will come with a 1.5K screen resolution. We saw some code lines in Mi Code and it was confirmed to have a lower resolution than 2K. Xiaomi 14 Pro and Redmi K70 Pro have a 2K screen resolution. The density is therefore set to 560. On the other hand, the MIX Flip has a value of “520“. This is an indication that it is more likely to come with a 1.5K screen resolution.
As for the launch date of the MIX Flip, we expect it to be introduced between May and June. Because it has model numbers “2405CPX3DG/2405CPX3DC“. The “2405” at the beginning of the model numbers represents May 2024. But we don’t know exactly when Xiaomi will introduce it.
