Samsung has released the Android 13 update for its latest rugged smartphone, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, in the US. The rollout reaches stateside nearly three months after it arrived in Europe and a few other international markets. The device is getting Samsung’s One UI 5.0 custom software with the new Android version.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update is currently available for factory-unlocked variants of the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro in the US. The carrier-locked units should pick up the new release in the coming days. The updated firmware version for the former is G736U1UEU1BWA5. The rollout has already hit devices on most networks, including AT&T, Verizon, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket Wireless, Nextech, US Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile (via). It should just be a matter of time now before everyone gets the update.

As said earlier, Samsung has already rolled out Android 13 to the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro in most international markets. The rollout began in the first half of November last year in Europe. The company has since expanded the update to Asia, Africa, and other markets. It arrived in North America a couple of weeks back, starting in Canada. Users of the rugged Galaxy smartphone in the US can finally get the taste of Android. Those with a carrier-locked unit aren’t as lucky, but their wait shouldn’t be much longer now.

Galaxy XCover 6 Pro gets Android 13 and January security update in the US

Along with the new Android version, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is also getting Samsung’s January 2023 security patch in the US. Last month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches more than 70 vulnerabilities in Galaxy devices. Samsung has yet to release the February patch. Since this rugged smartphone is eligible for monthly security updates, it will get the new SMR later this month. We will let you know when the rollout begins.

In the meantime, you have a big Android update headed your way with tons of goodies. You’re getting a refreshed UI along with a host of new features and improvements. If you haven’t received a notification prompting you to download the OTA (over the air) update yet, you can manually check for it from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. You should be able to download the latest update for your Galaxy XCover 6 Pro from here. If you don’t see any updates, wait a few days and check again.
