Verizon Wireless just began pushing Android 5.1 Lollipop to Motorola DROID Turbo users today after announcing yesterday they would start the update roll outs on July 1st, but the Motorola phone isn’t the only one seeing the update treatment as it appears Verizon has also started pushing out the updates for Android Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, which is Samsung’s variant of the Galaxy Note 4 from last Fall. Owners of the Galaxy Note Edge on Verizon should start seeing alerts for the software upgrade on their devices to move them forward to Android 5.0 Lollipop, which will bring in a host of new changes along with Material Design.

Although the UI will still be unmistakably Samsung courtesy of the TouchWiz interface, it will have quite a few touch ups to bring it in line with the Lollipop design guidelines as well as some bug fixes and improvements and other new features. When it comes to design, users will see much more vibrant use of color and the inclusion of new animations for certain menus and other areas, floating action buttons, lock screen notifications and much more. This will be updating the Galaxy Note Edge on Verizon to software version LRX22C, build number N915VVRU2B0F2.

Verizon has posted the changelog which you can find at the source below that details specific changes coming to the device other than what we have listed here, if you’re interested in taking a look. There is no mention of how long it will take for the software roll out to hit all devices, but it should be expected to take at least a couple of days before the updates finish, meaning not everyone is likely to see their upgrade today. With the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge now receiving Lollipop, it joins other Samsung devices on Verizon Wireless which are already using the software like the Galaxy S6 which was packaged with Lollipop to begin with, the Galaxy S4, and the Galaxy S5 which was updated on Verizon to Lollipop earlier this year in February. If you have a Galaxy Note Edge on Verizon, keep an eye on your status bar for the update alert, or you can check for the software update manually by navigating into the settings menu, then about, phone, and finally software updates.
