Aankoopopties en uitbreidingen

In her debut poetry collection, Hayley gives voice to the roots of struggle and pain growing up, as well as the love and pursuit of self-acceptance that were fundamental in her own choice to live. Her verses weave a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally resonant–through shadows of the past and the fleeting moments of joy captured in the simplicity of sharing an orange.

“even when you think there's nothing left
life gives us oranges
so go share one with your best friend
maybe they thought the world would end
when they were 16 too.”

This collection of poems is quite lovely, and thought-provoking. An exploration of ideas and topics such as love, family and self-growth. As someone who does not generally read poems, I found myself really falling in love with these. Page 60 is my favorite. Chefs kiss, that one is so simple yet it hits so hard about the vulnerability of loving someone. I'm happy I picked this up.

5,0 van 5 sterren Hayley Grace is an astonishing young writer
Beoordeeld in de Verenigde Staten op 11 april 2024
"save me an orange" by Hayley Grace stands as a remarkable testament to the talent of a young writer whose poetry resonates deeply with readers of all ages. Despite her youth, Hayley's words carry a wisdom and maturity that surpass her years, speaking directly to the hearts and souls of her audience.

What sets "save me an orange" apart is its rawness and honesty. She fearlessly delves into the complexities of life, laying bare her emotions and experiences with a passion that is palpable in every line. There's a refreshing lack of pretense in her writing; she doesn't sugarcoat the harsh realities nor does she exaggerate for effect. Instead, she presents her stories with authenticity, inviting readers to connect on a profound level.

One of the most compelling aspects of this collection is its universality. While Hayley's words may speak directly to the younger generation, their themes transcend age, speaking to the human condition in all its forms. Whether you're a teenager grappling with identity, an adult navigating the complexities of relationships, or someone trying to find their place in a tech-driven culture, there's something in these poems that will resonate with you.

Her poems are a testament to the power of poetry to illuminate the human experience. It's a book that will make you laugh, cry, and ponder the intricacies of life long after you've turned the final page. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of poetry that is both profound and profoundly human.
