The reason for this rice cooker for me was the ceramic coating. Unfortunate the bowl is made of aluminium if I am not wrong. The bowl feels very light. The inner lid is made of stainless steel I think.
The product plastic quality it looks and feel cheap on the bottom of the rice cooker. Also the website mentioned only the ceramic coating is BPA free so I guess the rest of the plastic is not bpa free? The top outside of the lid has a silver paint painted on a white plastic and I am worried about health risk although the silver paint stops somewere on the top of the lid opening hole like 2 cm and then is white plastic until were the steams come out, should be no worry I guess. Still I prefer no silver paint on the outer lid at all.
The major problem why I gave this product 3 stars is the ceramic coating quality. I am worried it will peel of easily. When I touch the surface of the ceramic coating it does not feel smooth. It almost feels like touching a new cast iron pan but much less rough. I wonder if this is normal. If the surface is not smooth like silk, whenever I scrape rice off the walls it is possible I think even with a plastic spoon to damage the coating over time. On the edge I spot 1 tiny small paint chip already out of box and on the edge it does not look like this ceramic coating is 2 mm thick, not even 1 mm to me.
The plastic steam piece really looks like the cheapest plastic I have ever seen and will not use it for safety reasons. The menu has not been made user friendly kind of confusing at first.
On the box it say made in China while they advertise with the word sakura.
There is also a German brand called Reishunger which both rice cookers looks the same. The german version I asked and they said the inner lid is made of aluminium. The inner bowl I think are both the same and bpa free. The menu has changed and looks more user friendly and the white version looks much nicer and no silver paint on the outer lid. Unfortunate why did they not made a stainless steel inner lid is beyong me....so I went for the asian version. How difficult is it to make the perfect rice cooker?
