De compacte bouw past goed in mijn oor. Qua comfort toch 1 ster er af omdat ik (volgens de app van Sony) een grotere maat eartips nodig heb voor een goede seal dan wat ik normaal voor mijn eigen comfort zou gebruiken. Gelukkig zijn de meegeleverde eartips redelijk qua comfort, en is het na een beetje wennen wel acceptabel. Dat neemt niet weg dat ik wel andere opties qua eartips ga proberen.

Het geluid is over de hele linie goed, de sound signature is vrij typisch Sony, maar wel iets neutraler en gebalanceerder dan hun goedkopere draadloze in ears.

Tot nu toe stoorde ik me bij alle draadloze in ears met actieve noise cancelling aan hoe deze de klank beinvloedde of het gevoel dat deze in mijn oren veroorzaakte. Dit is de eerste draadloze in ear waarbij ik dat niet heb. Het effect van de ANC is echter nog steeds ruim voldoende. Het werkt het beste bij constant geluid, zoals een afzuigkap of een koelsysteem.

Ik ben er blij mee.

The audio quality on these earphones is spectacular. Not as good as the over ear headphones (WH-1000XM5) but still very good, and a good battery life.

Unfortunately i got these to be take to take calls while travelling, but unless you're in a very quiet room, indoors with no wind, the voice isolation does not work well at all. It will pick up more ambient sound from around you than your actual voice. I tried to fix it by changing some of the settings, but it did not make it any better. Was very disappointed by this.

Also, i tried to find an extra charging chase, but they seem to be hard to find (not readily available) and more than half the price of new earphones, so this contributes a lot to electronic waste. You'd be better off buying new earphones rather than a replacement case if you happen to lose it.

I got my Sony WF-1000XM5 a few days ago and spent quite some time for testing them since then.
They have very good sound, great noise isolation, impressive battery life, decent mic quality in calls and make great impression overall.

On the other hand, users should take into account that sound and ANC performance depend a lot on fit quality and size of the Sony's foam eartips. They should be carefully selected and tested to achieve right sealing and hence good earbuds performance. And some people cannot achieve this due to the geometry of their ear canal etc. :(

I believe that reviewers who tell about poor ANC and sound performance may experience the issue above or just have a defective device.

I find this latest model worse than the previous on (WF-1000XM4). Noise cancellation is weaker and I have observed a strong reduction in the quality of vocal messagges when I send a message with the earphones connected. Overall, you do not want these features when you spend 250 euro! Go for WF-1000XM4!
One advantage of this model is the size, I like they are smaller than the previous model

The sound quality of these is excellent--crisp and clear, even with good bass (but not overdone). Five stars for that aspect.

The amount of silencing from active noise cancellation is fine, but not a big difference between the active mode and nothing (the earbuds just being passive earplugs, which they're good at). Only significant for low-frequency airplane noise. I haven't seen other earbuds that're any better, just be realistic about whether ANC is worth the cost versus simple earplug earbuds.

However, the user interface / experience is terrible, for these reasons:
- Instead of a physical button, each earbud has a touch surface, which (for me) only works half or 2/3 of the time. Sometimes I try to tap and it doesn't register the touch because I didn't touch in just the right place. Sometimes it imagines a tap when I didn't want it to (either I'm readjusting the earbuds in my ears, or taking them out / putting them in).

- It sometimes randomly switches between sound cancellation modes (active noise cancellation / doing nothing / having external microphone actively pass through outside sounds to compensate for the earbud's passive sound dampening). Most notably, it often randomly switches to active pass-through. In the app, you can set it to never do this, but that setting doesn't work. It still randomly switches to active pass-through sometimes, even though the app assures me I've turned that feature off.

- Because there aren't physical buttons, you tap multiple times to do things: one, two, three, or four taps, or tap-and-hold. This also only works about half the time, not even 2/3 of the time. And that's assuming you can remember all those gestures. My old wired earbuds with three physical buttons worked much better for raising volume, lowering volume, etc.

- The system thinks it's "smart", so anytime you grab the earbuds to even begin putting them in your ears, it already starts playing your music or audiobook / whatever. Sometimes just having them in your pocket (rather than in the special charger / case) makes them think they're in your ears, so the next time you put them in your ears, you find your audiobook is an hour beyond where you left off, and a good chunk of the battery life is gone.

- The charging light on the charger case is unclear: it's always orange when the case is closed and plugged into your charger, regardless of whether they're fully charged or almost empty. It's only green when you take the earbuds out or disconnect from the charger. Confusing.

- The app to change settings doesn't work when the earbuds are in the case, because they're off when they're charging. So to check battery levels or change any settings, you need to stop charging and remove them from the case.

So, in the end, the only advantage these have over my old Etymotic Research wired earbuds is the lack of a cord. (You could say the ANC is an advantage, too, but it's so minuscule it hardly makes a difference.) The old wired earplug earbuds have vastly better UI, and don't require battery charging and bluetooth. These new earbuds don't even save space in my bag, because the charging case takes up as much or more room than the coiled-up wired earbuds.

Bought this esp. for "The best noice cancelling". I could not get it to work, so maybe my ears don't match with these buds but my girlfriend had the same. For comparison, if I put my Airpods Pro 2 in, the ANC just works, without having to fiddle around with the fitting in my ears. I returned the Sony's.

I lost a pair, and so reordered, which means I feel they are worth the $300 or so. To properly enable the noise-cancelling, I replaced the ear inserts with the AZLA SednaEarfit Crystal Standard 3 Pairs (Size MS/M/ML 3Pr), which worked quite well. I love these things.

The noise insolation is very good so you get high quality of sound.
However, you might feel slightly uncomfortable wearing it after 3, 4 hours.
If you prioritize the quality of sound over comfort, it is a good choice.

Le son est top il faut le dire MAIS cette forme personnellement gâche vraiment tout ,une gene après quelque minute au oreilles et sont loin d’être aussi confortable que les AirPods Pro 2
Dommage je l’ai retourner uniquement pour le confort et cette forme de boule ne me convient pas du tout
Ps attention de bien prendre une apli de musique valable sinon ces écouteurs ne vale rien et comme d’autres marques ….je ne vise pas du tout Sony mdrrr

Bought these with a healthy dose of skepticism as far too often I'm disappointed in products that receive high accolades from the main review websites. But I was very happy to find that the WF 1000xm5 really are fantastic.
They are very comfortable to wear, sit very comfortably in your ear for long sessions. They look very discrete and tasteful, the only negative I have for the design is as they are so tiny they are a little awkward to get out of the case, but I quickly learnt an easy way to remove them. Reassuring really as the magnets offer a very secure fit in the case.
The sound quality is terrific. A decently wide soundstage with good placement of all elements. Everything sounds crystal clear with no unwanted distortion. The bass is tight, impactful and has a satisfying thump. The mids are excellent, vocals from both sexes sound terrific as do guitars and keyboards/synthesisers. Treble is well extended with little to no sibilance. Wonderful sound all round basically.
The noise cancelling is the best I've encountered in earbuds so far, mutes everything around you very well and as I discovered today they handle really strong winds very well. The ANC has very little effect on sound quality, and absolutely no background noise.
The app experience is very well implemented, with a huge array of features. Everything always works and the auto EQ adjustment is the only one I've ever used and liked. Offered me a better sound than me messing round tweaking for 30+ minutes with a manual EQ. All the presets are good and change the sound perceptibly. Still not tried the 360 audio features. But if my other Sony over ears are anything to go by, it'll be great.
They are the best TWS earbuds I've owned or tried(via friends), the LDAC in highest bitrate sounds superb - best Bluetooth codec yet for me by far. In case you haven't noticed I love these, I only have one criticism of the product and it's the included ear tips, they work but the security of the fit is quite poor, always have to adjust them when putting them in and frequently while in use. Swapped to Comply foams already, for me it's the only negative thing about the WF1000xm5 - hated the included tips - change them please Sony!

Ho aspettato un po' per scrivere la recensione per testarle bene. Fantastiche, non comodissime ma il suono è eccezionale, latenza inesistente, cancellazione del rumore ottima, magari non ai massimi livelli ma fa veramente un ottimo lavoro, trasparenza ottima. Durata della batteria buona, non eccezionale ma non ti abbandonano. Inizialmente usate con gommini medi ed ero scettico sulla cancellazione del rumore, ho installato quelli L ed è tutto fantastico, leggermente più pressione ma niente di insopportabile. Unico difetto è la qualità dei materiali e della costruzione del case, al tatto è veramente economico con plastiche che sembrano delicate, il coperchio ha un po' di gioco che lo rende apparentemente fragile tanto che ho ordinato una cover per preservarla. Anche la dimensione non è proprio il massimo, da un po' fastidio in tasca, ma le cuffie ti fanno dimenticare tutto. I microfoni non saranno il massimo ma per l'utilizzo in ambiente chiuso, che è quello dove le uso, vanno bene. Anche se c'è un po' di rumore con qualcuno che parla vicino si riesce tranquillamente a farsi sentire dall'interlocutore, nessuno si è mai lamentato. Usarli in un locale affollato non credo che succederà, non vedo perché dovrei usare le cuffie se vado in un locale affollato. Consigliatissime per chi ama la qualità del suono. Le uso prevalentemente in palestra con anc on. Bhe già a metà volume non sento più nulla, musica di sottofondo, persone che parlano, maleducati al telefono in vivavoce, rumori di attrezzi che sbattono, solo musica al massimo livello di qualità del servizio di streaming
