Je cherchais un appareil qui me permettrai de lire mes livres, mes applications de news, écouter mes podcasts, mes livres audios, mais serait équipé d'un simple écran de type liseuse, et petit plus, serait déconnecté de toutes applications sociales. Ce device existe donc bel est bien, et il remplit parfaitement son usage.
Il est clairement un peu lent dans son exécution, mais là encore, comme c'est juste pour de la lecture, c'est quelque chose qu'on lui pardonne assez vite.
Pour le reste, il bénéficie du Bluetooth, d'un petit appareil photo qui est là pour scanner des documents (très pratique), une batterie très longue ce qui est vraiment appréciable (environs 6 jours).

Il fait vraiment ce qu'on attend de lui, il aurait peut-être sans doute gagné à avoir un petit plus de puissance, pour rendre l'expérience encore plus fluide, et c'est pour çà que je lui enlève une petite étoile.

Come da foto lo sto utilizzando come un normale telefono android e ci ho installato Whatsapp (e ci posso telefonare), programmi bancari (hype ecc) Kindle ovviamente (ma fumetti troppo piccoli) tutte le tessere dei negozi, onedrive, youtube (alla fine un simpson in bianco e nero si può vedere), un giochino idle, i widget sono esattamente quelli che ci si aspetta; Interessante i giochi del gameboy quasi fedeli all'originale ho messo Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins di cui ho la cartuccia originale e non va per niente male :). Funziona anche come GPS; In pratica è un cellulare android senza SIM quindi serve WIFI costante (per questo sto utilizzando un ovetto); Durata batteria: dura anche 3 giorni senza retroilluminazione perché anche se acceso può rimanere su una pagina fissa in eterno e si aggiorna (tipo un messaggio whatsapp in arrivo); Le notifiche funzionano suona con i classici suoni android.. Per ora lo adoro! se faranno una versione con ESIM + sblocco impronta anche per autorizzare le operazioni bancarie (per ora si usa PIN o password e posso comunque fare un bonifico) + eink kaleido sarà il mio prox cellulare :) Grazie!

This little device is a total game-changer in the e-reader world.

I have owned a Kindle Paperwhite for years and been very happy with it for reading English books, but was frustrated when trying to find books in the foreign languages I read which are either not well supported on Kindle or the book selection in the Kindle store is severely lacking.

For the reasons outlined above, I was delighted to discover the world of android e-readers and over the last few years have tried a couple of offerings from Likebook and Onyx. This Boox Palma is by far the best of the lot. The small size turns out to be a good thing as it fits ample text on the screen while being easier to hold and keep in your pocket all day if you wish. The android apps are also designed primarily for smartphones so some of them (including the Kindle app) just seem to work better on this screen size.

I'm not too technically minded regarding the internal specs like processing power, but this one runs a lot more smoothly than the Boox Poke 2 and it can boot up from off in just 40 seconds. You've got to realise that no tech giants like Samsung are currently operating in this space so innovation has been relatively slow. This is without a doubt the fastest and smoothest ereader experience I have had to date. One other problem with previous Boox devices was that they were uncomfortable to hold and hard to buy good cases for. This one solves both problems with its smooth, rounded edges and textured back and cases are available on Amazon as well as Chinese websites.

The swipe control from the bottom of the screen allows you to use the full screen for reading (I would suggest adding a 'back button' shortcut there for your convenience). I leave the side swipe gestures off as they can interfere with page turn swiping in some apps. The navigation ball feature allows me to jump to my foreign language dictionary apps while in the middle of a book.

The browser experience is also the best I have encountered on an e-ink device. If you are new to e-readers, I would suggest you stay away from browsers, videos, games etc. as those are not really their strong points. Start with reading apps like Kindle and Libby (for public library borrowing). I also use Moon Reader Pro as it can load public domain ebooks from Project Gutenberg for free within the app. For foreign language books you can just use the app for the online ebook store from whichever country you wish.

In my opinion, the Boox Palma is the best android ereader to date in terms of its size, speed, comfort to hold and ease of use. 5 stars for innovation and the fact that I am already addicted to reading on it every day.

 Dieser Reader ist wirklich perfekt durchdacht und ich nutze ihn täglich sehr oft anstatt meines Handys. Das ist gut für die Augen und auch viel entspannter als dieses ständige youtube-gedaddel. Totale uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung

Ich sehe den Palma in erster Linie als kleinen Ebookreader. Im Prinzip ist es ein vollwertiges Gerät mit Android, aber weder Tablet noch Smartphone. Insgesamt ist das Gerät tadellos verarbeitet. Der Bildschirm ist hell und scharf. Das System arbeitet völlig ausreichend schnell. Im Gegensatz zu einem normalen Ebookreader steckt hier viel bessere Hardware darin. Das spürt man bereits bei einfachen Aufgaben wie dem Lesen von Büchern. Durch das Android mit Googleanbindung lassen sich beliebige Apps zum Lesen von Büchern installieren. Kritikpunkte sammelt der Palma für die nur auf englisch verfügbaren Datenschutzbestimmungen und AGB. Derzeit werden nur zwei Wörterbücher angeboten, keins für Deutsch. Der Hersteller verspricht mindestens 3 Jahre Updates zu liefern. Der derzeitige Sicherheitsstand ist Januar 2024.
Unterm Strich ist der Palma ein interessantes Gerät was sich nicht richtig einordnen lässt. Als Reader macht er eine sehr gute Figur. Es liest sich auf dem kleinen Bildschirm besser als man denkt und das Gerät lässt sich locker mit einer Hand halten. Grundlegend könnte man die Bücher auch auf einem Smartphone lesen, aber durch die Bildschirmtechnologie ist der Palma klar im Vorteil. Der Akku hält zudem viel länger als bei einem Smartphone.
