The new blades are single row while my blades that came with the shave are dual row blades. I don't understand why Philips recommend these blades for my shaver when they are in fact a downgrade.
New blades are sharp and the result is decent but I wished I ordered the best blades available instead...

I take good care of my razor, but blades were a year old so I replaced them. I could immediately tell the difference. The new blades give a closer shave. So replace your blades every year or earlier if you have heavy beard.
The owner's manual for my razor says to replace the blades every two years, yet I have seen most replacement blades BY PHILIPS (i.e. SH71/53) selling here with packaging that clearly shows to replace every 12 months. Although these blades cost a bit more, they are 2 YEAR replacement blades as per the originals that came with my razor.
Wow, what a difference. My first Philips corded shave lasted 15 years with the same heads . Had this one 4 years and recently started so notice it wasn’t shaving as close and I was shaving twice a day. Thought it was an age thing ( I’m 59) and that my facial hair was getting thicker and harder to cut. Having read that the recommended blade replacement period was 18 months ( sales pitch ? ) I decided try new heads as cheaper than a new shaver. Though about buying the cheaper non brand blades but honestly for something you use every day why take a chance to save £20 ? Have to say what an amazing difference. When I first put them in and tried the shaver I thought they were not working . The shaver moved effortlessly across my face , so much quieter, i actually took them back out to check they were in properly ! My shave is now so close that my skin is smooth again, and I have lost the ‘shadow’ that had gradually appeared over the last year or so ( my wife even noticed and said I look so much bette ! ). Best £40 I have spent
