Pixel 8a Fingerprint reader works

I got the new Pixel 8a and ordered a case that came with screen protectors. The finger print reader was garbage where roughly 1 of 7 times it would read my finger. Most times it would fail to read so many times, the phone would go to pin to unlock. After reading positive reviews where people had the same problem with different models of Pixels, I figured for $10 I would give this a try. The install is honestly the best I have ever seen. There is a orange ring that goes on the phone and specifies top and bottom. The screen protector then has holes that align with this holder to fit perfectly in place. Then while its in place you squeegee all the air out for a flawless finish. The protector isn't glass like others which I like because I have cracked a few protectors and they look like crap and have to be replaced. Being this is a plastic it wont crack, though it is likely not as protective from a direct hit. I take care of my phones so this is less of a concern for me. As for performance, it allows the phone to work normal and I am happy the say the finger print reader works much better. At most my finger has failed 3x in a row, but it has also let me in several times on the first try - something the other screen protector did maybe one time. Overall a good buy and it comes with 4 protectors so I should be good for quite some time.

This is the third brand I have tried for my pixel 6a and the absolute best for ease of installation with perfect results. I did have a glitch with the frame though. The opening of the frame was shorter than the length of the protector by just enough to prevent me from being able to drop it in the frame. I ended up removing the frame and then I was able to finish the installation. I had one large bubble near the bottom. I used a squeegee I had from a previous kit to press over the bubble toward the edge of the protector. Just one time over the bubble and it was gone.

The other BIG PLUS of this protector is that there is no issue with the fingerprint reader. I appreciate this SO MUCH!!! Why have a fingerprint reader if it doesn't recognize your fingerprint? I feel this was a great purchase!! Time will tell if it will actually protect my screen from damage from dropping my phone. I do drop my phone a lot and my previous protector did have a lot of cracks on it, yet the phone screen was perfect. Several reviewers have stated that this screen protector did not go edge to edge on the screen. This is the third brand I have purchased and none of them went end to end. This was by far the easiest brand to install with the best results. I highly recommend this one!

Update: I have dropped my phone many times since I put this screen saver on, with no damage to the screen or the screen saver. The last drop was with the screen face down onto the cement. The screen saver has a crack, but there is no damage to the screen itself. These screen savers are a great way to avoid having to replace a screen. I am very pleased.

If you're reading this, you're probably not new to installing a screen protector on a phone. Some love the glass screen protectors but I've overall preferred the film style. For the longest time the highest quality installs were the wet kind. This product promised a perfect bubble free install with an installation tool and a squeegee. I'm glad to say it worked just fine. A quick install, lines up perfectly and 1st try no bubbles (obviously make sure there is no dust in the installation area). So with a small number of film type protectors available for the 8A, and with how well this installed, and how well the phone performs with the protector on I would say go for it... it's a good product.

As far as quality goes, this seems like a good screen protector. The kit came with everything I needed, it was easy to install, and the applicator ensured that the screen was centered pretty well. The screen protector for the camera lens was also easy to install. This is a good value considering it has three sets of front screen + camera lens protectors. However:

What makes this go from a 5-star, good-value product to a 3-star product is that the size of the screen protector does not cover the entire front screen and creates an awkward gap between the phone case and the protector. The protector only covers the parts of the screen that light up and does not include the edges. Therefore dust, dirt, pet hair, etc. can get stuck in that space between the protector and the phone case. I've only used this for a few days, and I've had to clean out dust and cat hair daily. This also bothers me visually because the edge of the protector is illuminated by the screen's light and the strip of unprotected screen reflects light, which only draws my attention to the strip even more.

For context, I have two cases for my Pixel 6a (Spigen + OtterBox) and I encountered this problem with both. The attached photo is with the Spigen case. Those two companies make up the large majority of the phone case market for Pixel phones. Screen protector manufacturers should keep phone case dimensions in mind but, more importantly, ensure that the screen protector is covering the entire front screen, and not just parts that are illuminated by the backlight.
