3.0 out of 5 starsMore like "Sudden, Loud Noise Detector"
Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2024
We've had four false alarms with these devices and no real ones (thankfully). It's not really a smart device or anything, it simply listens for sudden, loud noises. For example, the 4 instances I am referring to are as follows:
1. A toilet seat slammed (a sudden loud noise that, although shocking, doesn't really sound like glass breaking).
2. A halfway empty water bottle crinkling in my hand when I walked by (I don't know how they design water bottle plastic to be so LOUD, but here we are). This one I can kinda see...
3. The toilet seat... again.
4. Our cat jumped down from the window sill onto our hidden shoe tree cabinet and knocked a candle-lighter off it (this was definitely loud, but this one sounded the least like glass breaking and STILL set the sensor off).
Thankfully, we've been home when all this has happened. I try to keep things like this from being accessible to the cats while we're gone, but I do not look forward to the day police get called to our residence because one of our cats knocked over something innocuous, setting off the sensor.
However, I'm 100% sure if real glass breaks anywhere in the house these things will probably go off.
It would be great if they could make them smarter and actually able to distinguish between real glass breaking and other sudden, loud noises...
