I recently purchased the Brita Filtered Water Bottle, attracted by the idea of having filtered water readily available on the go. The promise of reducing plastic waste and saving money in the long run was too good to pass up. After using it extensively, here's my take on its performance.
**Pros:**
- **Effective Filtration:** The Brita bottle does an excellent job of filtering out the taste and odor of chlorine, making tap water taste significantly better.
- **Eco-Friendly:** It's a great alternative to buying bottled water, both for environmental reasons and cost savings over time.
- **Durability:** The bottle itself feels sturdy and well-made, capable of withstanding daily use without issues.
**Cons:**
- **Hard Suction:** One of the first things I noticed was how hard you have to suck on the straw to get water. This can be particularly inconvenient when you're very thirsty and trying to take quick sips. It seems the filter's resistance is the main culprit here.
- **Mouthpiece Staining:** Despite regular cleaning, the mouthpiece started showing stains that were hard to remove. It's somewhat disappointing, given the overall quality of the bottle. While you can buy replacement mouthpieces, it's an added expense and hassle that shouldn't really be necessary.
In summary, the Brita Filtered Water Bottle offers a practical solution for those looking to improve their water intake with filtered water. However, the effort required to drink through the straw and the issue with the mouthpiece staining are significant drawbacks that potential buyers should consider. If you're okay with the extra effort and the possibility of replacing the mouthpiece down the line, it's still a good investment for the environmentally conscious and health-savvy individuals.
