After sending in this lens. I simply expected it to be replaced since I bought this protection plan. I sent the lens in, and was not told the status of the repair for at least one week. Then I was told it was in repair due to the emails, only after calling and talking to customer service. After multiple days, I called again, only to find out that the lens could not be repaired. This was ten days after being informed that my lens was received. It makes me think nobody looked at my lens to see what was wrong with it until I called. Then once my lens was deemed unable to be repaired it was several more days until I called again until my refund was issued. The biggest problem, is that I bought the lens on sale. But I was only refunded for the purchased price, which left me $80 short on the new price of the same lens. I don’t believe I would have bought the protection plan in the first place if I didn’t think the lens would be replaced at no extra cost from the same place I purchased it, on Amazon. I spoke to Amazon as well, and the excuse was that the same vendor didn’t have it for the same price so they couldn’t match the price of the same exact lens for the current price. I am very disappointed with his process. Not only did it take 3 weeks to even get the refund issued, it wasn’t for the current lens price. And nobody would work with me to make this right. The purpose of a protection plan is to replace a defective item. This lens was not damaged by any outside factors, and it simply stopped working one day less than two year from purchase. The protection plan did recoup me some value, but I would have rather not bought the plan and just saved that money for other products. Now I have no faith in the protection plans offered by Amazon, and I wasn’t even told why the lens was not repairable by Asurion. Overall, a very disappointing process that cost me opportunities to make money with my equipment, and the lack of communication was disheartening to say the least. I could have made other arrangement to get more equipment, I still lost out on money, and Amazon customer service acted like they have nothing to do with it. DO NOT BUY ASURION PROTECTION PLANS THROUGH AMAZON IF THE ITEM IS NOT AT FULL PRICE, BECAUSE THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO SHORTCHANGE YOU IN THE END. This is where I stand.
