Twice as long as what, wet tissue paper?
Bought in 2017, within two years I had replaced the cartridge/valve, and again within the past six months have had to do this again. Manufacturer's rep was very pleasant about the warranty support but,
while under warranty, it's still an annoyance, an issue with this model/mfr. We have several Delta faucets throughout our house, it was a brand my dad was sold on, you could say I was raised on Delta.
I was advised by the company’s representative the second time to have the whole house’s plumbing system back-flushed - NOT an inexpensive suggestion - I also had a lumber take a look at the faucet and he just shook his head. Wouldn’t say a word about Delta except that “there are better units out there.”
We’ve lived here going on 30 years, the first faucet (unknown brand) lasted all of about twenty years, the second (french sounding name I won’t write here, had this really cool cartridge insert that leaked from day one, replaced after a year) "lasted" about three years, now Delta, lasted about 2 years, then another 2-1/2 or so, so, not long at all.
Even the last cartridge, with the back flushing, hasn’t worked long, as the faucet is dripping AGAIN, which can usually be stopped by pulling the handle forward SHARPLY, SUDDENLY, but not always.Sometimes, if we rotate the handle vigorously (hot-cold, low-high output) it will stop dripping, leaking/pouring immediately and this will continue as with any other, NORMAL faucet, for a day or two. This started with the dripping/leaking about a month after reinstalling it after the backflushing and second valve cartridge.
Now, just in the past week it started restricting flow both hot and cold water (that little blue tab flow restrictor isn't working) AND there’s a leak from a cold water compression fitting.
Joy.
No more DELTA for us.
Photo is what I think is best thing to do with it, although parts of it will go into recycling.
