I've had good luck with other Meross products (garage door opener, smart plugs, etc), so figured I'd give these light bulbs a try. I sure am glad I did.
These light bulbs connected very easily. You plug them in, launch the app and they just connected the first time. No hub needed. No troubleshooting. Super easy. And since I have my Meross app connected to my Google Home and Alexa apps, the light bulbs magically appeared in both apps without any prompting. It is as easy as screwing in a lightbulb!
The different lighting options for the bulbs are well thought out. You have your typical blue, purple, green etc (not sure when I'll actually use those, but they are nice to have to impress the kids!). The real feature for us adults are the multiple "white" options and the dimmer function. The different white colors are great - bright white for when you're reading or a softer white at night for watching tv. The dimmer functionality in the app is easy too - just drag the circle from 0-100%.
I also noticed a very fast reaction time for these bulbs. Almost no lag from when I call on them to do something in the app or via my Alexa and Google Home.
One final thought - I have a ceiling fan/light combo that uses a remote control. I always found that annoying - remote would go missing, batteries would die, etc. I briefly considered swapping the whole thing out for a smart unit, but I just used one of my smart bulbs in the fan light and it works great! I can't believe I didn't think of that earlier.
The price for the 2-pack at $13 is very affordable. There might be others slightly cheaper, but I have confidence in Meross products and am willing to spend a few more bucks. There are also plenty of expensive bulb options out there as well - I couldn't imagine what those would give me that these Meross bulbs wouldn't.
In the end, I plan on buying many more of these Meross bulbs to add to various locations around my house. You should too!
