Worst credit card experience as customer.
I applied for this card making sure my credit score was good enough to obtain it. I hate the feeling there are things out of my control so I studied all the requirements before sending the request. I'm a declared fan of all Amazon's products, this couldn't fail.After a few days I got a letter from Chase asking me for some details such as my SSN card and a proof of residence. Fair. During that day, I went to a Chase office in person to show all my papers, and they said "you're approved". Effectively, I got my card a week later. It came with a described list of all basic steps: how to activate it, sign in for online account, etc. Even my Amazon account automatically assigned this card as my default payment method. To make sure it was properly working, I bought a couple of stuffs on Amazon without using the $70 gift card. I thought "I can use the benefit later" and it worked as expected.Sounds like a nice story, right?Well, next day I tried to pay my lunch with my brand-new Amazon Prime Visa but it was rejected. I didn't pay much attention and I just called by the end of the day to Chase. Surprise was to hear they'd decided to close my card without immediate notice. In addition, they said they didn't have access to the actual reasons. They just said I had to wait seven to ten days for a letter with the reasons. I must be honest, I was totally upset with this situation and I thought to send this feedback right away. But, what is a good review without the whole story?Today I got the glorious letter. The reason? NOT ENOUGH CREDIT INFORMATION ON FILE.Really? Don't they have the chance to check this after asking me for my SSN, ID, creating a hard inquiry on my credit score, etc? Don't they have the chance to check this information BEFORE SENDING THE PHYSICAL CARD?I thought Chase + Amazon = best combination.Now, for the very first time, I cannot recommend an Amazon product.

This card has sneaky interest rate policies that you should be aware of prior to getting the card. I am a loan underwriter and credit analyst, so this experience was particularly irritating because I know exactly how credit cards work! I received my first statement and paid all but $25 (by accident, meant to pay in full) on time. So my carryover balance was $25, which I would expect to be charged interest for. However, on the next statement I see I have been charged interest for the full balance PLUS my new purchases, of which I was still within the grace period at that point. This happened again the following month. So I called Chase and was told that for this particular card, if you don't pay the balance in full they charge interest on the TOTAL balance - not the carry-over balance like most other credit cards, which in my case was $25 - PLUS they will forego the grace period on your current purchases! I told them I won't be using this card anymore, and that this is predatory. Beware, if you can't pay the balance in full by the due date each month, the interest you will be charged is not worth the rewards; you will wind up spending more on interest than you will receive back. My FICO is in the 800s and they are charging over 15% APR - with no grace period because of that $25 carryover the first month - so I imagine the average interest rate on this card is well over 20%. There are much better reward cards out there that don't practice usury.

I like using one card for all my amazon purchases. It gives me a good idea of how much extra online shopping I do. I also enjoy getting additional points by using this card, and there are special promos for more points too that you can take advantage of.

Three things that I wish were better-
1. I wish it somehow could break down what you actually bought, but I can see how that is not really possible, but it would be awesome if you could tell what you actually bought on amazon on your statement.

2. The customer service to call is a little longer of a wait than other cards I own. It isn't the end of the world, but I find redeeming my points thru the phone is a bit more difficult than my other cards. If you do this kind of thing online, you probably won't notice.

3. The printed statement itself is really long and skinny. This sounds weird, but I like how ALL my other statements from every other company are usually the same standard length which makes it nice and neat. For some reason, chase prime visa made their statement really narrow and long. Just kind of weird. LOL
