I've purchased other low carb items from Rip Van with good results. They had a modest effect on Brittle Type 1 Diabetes blood glucose and tasted good. They were moderately priced but in the rare treat budget for a fixed income Retiree.
Dark Chocolate has more purported health benefits and little impact on blood glucose so I decided to try them.
The nutrition label looked promising, ingredients list and description looked good, so I ordered a box.
Wafer packet box arrived well packed, However, the packet was much smaller than it appeared in the Amazon Store site.
Opened the packet and the individual wafer wrappers looked even smaller.
+ On the plus side: Wafer layers thin and crispy with a satisfying texture Multiple layers of intensely dark chocolate Chocolate layers thicker than wafer layers - On the Minus side Dark Chocolate tastes like unsweetened Baking Chocolate, not Bittersweet Dark Chocolate overpowers wafer flavors Strong, persistent baking chocolate flavor Unsatisfying, no satiety Very pricy for quantity Miniscule package and wafer sizé Wafer flavor imperceptible
Rip Van OK for rare treats but not this variety. Washington Irving would be disappointed.
