Let's be real, tempered glass screen protectors are the best as far as durability, appearance and ease of application goes. However, the Pixel 7 Pro, much like the old Galaxy S10, has a substantial curve on the left and right sides of the display. Naturally, a TG screen protector has to be very precisely manufactured to stick properly at all points on the display, especially the edges.
Because the P7 and P7P are both very new, non-Apple phones, TG screen protectors from sites like Amazon are very hit or miss. Screen protectors like these LK films get around this by being made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) or basically a flexible plastic, making sticking to the curved edges a lot easier. However, there are a lot of trade offs with this.
To start, this thing is a nightmare to apply as it has little to no rigidity, making it very difficult to line up. It includes enough tools to get the job done, but unless you do it in a clean room while wearing a bunny suit, you will get visible dust specks stuck to the backside of the film. Further, the fact that it's a plastic does make scrolling feel slightly stickier, and the display has a noticeable orange peel texture.
I spent a good 25 minutes trying to manage dust particles, but it's pretty much hopeless if you have an average amount of dust in your home. This film attracts it like a magnet and once it's stuck, you will never get it off. It definitely isn't a permanent solution for me, but it'll at least get me by until I find something better. The fingerprint sensor still functions reliably at least.
It's good it comes with 2 films, because most people will probably screw up the first application. If you're fussy about the look and feel of the screen, I'd keep an eye out for a good glass protector. If you're running the smaller, flatter Pixel 7, finding a good TG protector shouldn't be a problem. P7P users will have to be careful which one they choose.
