If you are not married to the Apple Universe, this is a great alternative. I personally prefer Android because it is more open than iOS, although some apps available for Apple devices are not available for Android. I use this mostly for music performance and use iRealPro and iGigBook, although ForScore is Apple-only.
The tablet includes a stylus, and you can do pressure-sensitive drawing (compared to Apple Pencil for over $100 just for the stylus).
I have had good experience with Samsung devices, and have another smaller Samsung tablet, a Samsung phone, and Galaxy watch. But none of these requires that you use Samsung or Android features to be able to communicate with other users on devices with other platforms (i.e., FaceTime is available only on Apple devices, and certain features of Apple SMS only work when you are texting another Apple phone).
