I’ve been a Weber kettle user and fan for a long time, and for years I looked forward to getting a Weber gas grill. Finally felt I could spend the money on it instead of the cheapie grills I’ve been using for years. Finally decided to get the Spirit II. While I won’t say it’s a bad grill, I don’t think it was worth the money I paid. Maybe I should have invested in a Genesis. But the Spirit II has not impressed me.

It seems fairly well made, perhaps only marginally better than the Charbroil grills I had been using. Heat distribution has been the biggest disappointment. Very uneven from day 1. At least after more than a year I’ve learned where the hot and cold spots are. As far as how hot it gets, another meh. Tough to get a really nice sear in a steak. It’s not the hardest to clean but not the easiest. My last charbroil was much easier.

Overall it’s just disappointing. I had heard so much about how much better webers are, and I my expectations were too high, I suppose.

I still love my Weber kettle and will never be without one. But when it’s time for a new gas grill, I’ll likely look elsewhere.
