The EERO did not improve performance above my Verizon router. The mesh setup seemed ideal and I really liked the mobile application for ease in configuration. After several setup attempts and starting from scratch, the main problem I encountered was a loss of connectivity for the 3 hubs which were directly connected via Cat 6 ethernet. I don't understand how that is possible but the online forums seemed to indicate this is a common issue. In one instance, it seemed to prefer to go offline and allow the nearest Echo device to carry the load. While connections were stable, the IoT devices seemed to have quick responses until the device count exceeded 30. I needed to implement port forwarding, DDNS, and a couple of static IPs which were easy to configure via the mobile app. With each change, the system would require a restart and take as much as 20 minutes to restore services. This was not ideal for me as a teleworker trying to explain outages for simple updates. As others have stated, the return process is unique for this product and takes longer to complete. Initial estimate was 3-4 weeks, then 6 weeks, ...
PROS Mobile app is outstanding Echo integration into mesh capabilities
CONS Constant connection issues despite wired connections Lack of control over configuration and data collection Long wait for refund Struggled with more than 30 IoT devices Minor config updates can require an extended outage Dependency on mobile app for all updates
