This is another nice product from Eufy. This is my 7th camera from them.The light is surprisingly bright. This has been an improvement to my home since my front steps dont have lights. I also received packages as late as 9:45pm so its nice to have lights for those delivery drivers. |The power port is another USB-C. The dimensions are approximately 7"(17.78cm) wide by about 5"(12.7cm tall and the deepest part of the housing is 2-1/2"(6.35cm). The Field of View (FOV) is about 40ft(12.19 meters).The only con i can give the product is , it cant be behind a glass door or window. This is also stated in the user manual for the product. Its not a limitation of the product its just the technology. the IR sensor will reflect off of a glass surface and stop all detection entirely. I tested it walking all the way up to the camera and not detection was noticed. Opening the glass door would allow the sensor to detect.

So glad I bought this camera for myself. Wish I bought a few more!

Pros:
* It takes about 7 seconds to load the live feed on my eufy app on my phone (this is much faster loading than the live feed from my tapo camera).
* All events are captured and saved to my phone, no subscription needed.
* Had a friend who owned a drill install it on my fence, facing my house, very easy to install (just used about 3 screws).
* Day vision is clear (colour) and so is night vision (black and white).
* The sensor light brightness is adjustable and works well.

Cons:
* It does not detect motion until the object enters the field of vision (the Tapo camera starts recording before a car or person has even walked into view).

I've got the 3 camera Eufy 2C security cameras as well as the Eufy Wireless doorbell. Quite honestly, they're great (the doorbell has a few minor issues - low volume & no relays).

So as soon as I saw the Security Solar Wall Light Cam, I bought it without hesitation.

To explain, I have a mature fruit tree to one side of my property. It's within sight of the footpath and passersby think nothing about walking onto my property to help themselves to the fruit. I don't mind them having the fruit but hate them coming onto my property unannounced.

So this solar cam seemed ideal. It has the right mix of features, doesn't require mains charging and can trigger an alarm upon motion detection.

After first having to sort out an issue with my home network, I synched up the solar cam and that's where I discovered an issue.

It only operates on the 2.4Ghz band. Further, although I use PowerLine wireless repeaters (both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz), it doesn't seem to like them much.

Despite being 20 feet away from a repeater (repeater inside, solar cam outside), it doesn't want to talk to my network.

I'm still in the setting up stage so perhaps things might change but this is definitely a bummer.

The other thing about the solar cam is that although it does integrate with the Eufy App, its treated as a separate device meaning it follows its own mode switching as opposed to the general system mode switching.

I'll update this review when I've got everything working & stable.

Addendum 7-2-24
I eventually solved the wifi issue by purchasing a cheap repeater & mounting it against the window so that the signal is broadcast outwards. Although signal strength can still get patchy occasionally.

Generally I find the solar light quite good although its features don't line up with those of a eufycam. The biggie being using a different schedule than the cameras. To cater for this, eufy have modded the app but the mod doesn't always load (I suspect that it's tied in online somehow).

I'd like to order another two of them... But as always, as soon as a supplier discovers that someone on the other side of the world has ordered their product, they won't ship to that destination again. Guess I'll have to wait a couple of years until they eventually arrive on our shores. Pity.

I like the ease of setup the most. Scan the QR code and type in your wifi password. It only works w/ 2.4ghz wifi but that channel reaches the farthest. This does NOT work with HomeBase3. It works only on your wifi. But it does show up on the Eufy Security app. Still no homebase3 utilization. So any automation controls or security settings are separate from you Homebase2 settings. That's a big let down. But solar charging on mine works great. Mine gets almost 6 hrs of direct sunlight even in winter. It won't solar charge until battery is down near 80%. So if you don't see it charging in the app, it's likely your battery level is already charged enough. My wall light cam will charge every other day after mounting it fully charges up like you're supposed to do. I contacted Eufy and got a 15° angled mounting block for my wall so I could monitor closer to my home's wall where it's mounted. Otherwise, it won't pick up directly below the camera but further out like 3' away. Didn't like that. I also don't like how there is only 1mveryntinynscrew holding the camera to the mount. So somebody can very easily rip it down. Should have designed it with 2 more screw attachment points. One on each side as well as that tiny brass screw on the bottom they give you. The whole light camera can be flipped around if you touch it. And the 15° mounting bracket makes it more unstable as it's leaning forwards now off that 1 tiny screw on the bottom.
Another complaint, that others may complain about, is the motion sensor is slow to trip and activate the camera recording. And the recording lengths were so short I was missing animals and people. So I recommend using "activity zones" to set where motion detection needs to be most sensitive. Also, set "custom recording" times under the motion detection settings and video. Setting up a custom area to monitor will help eliminate false triggers and help to catch actual people and animals in the activity zone. Custom recording length I chose 30 seconds opposed to the insanely short 15 seconds max system setting.
The light output is plenty bright and helps illuminate my gate for backyard at night. Catches lots of wild animals coming and going. Foxes, raccoons, deer, possums, and of course trespassing cats.
