    3. Tested in an outdoor open environment without interference. The video transmission bitrate varies by operating environment.
    4. Under FCC standards and subject to the aircraft's max flight distance, measured in an interference-free outdoor environment. When used with different aircraft, the goggles will automatically select the corresponding firmware to match the aircraft's video transmission specification.
    5. Wearing and viewing experience may vary by user.
    6. The 3-hour max operating time was measured at an ambient temperature of 25° C (77° F), screen brightness at 4, connected to the DJI Avata 2 aircraft, video transmission set to 1080p/100fps, Head Tracking off, Real View off, and the goggles' battery fully charged and not supplying power to external devices such as smartphones.

    8. Tested in an outdoor open environment free of interference. The video transmission bitrate varies by operating environment.
    9. The screen refresh rate changes with the video transmission frame rate. It may switch between 100 Hz and 60 Hz to adapt to the current video transmission frame rate.
    10. Included in the box and should be installed to achieve diopter adjustment.
11.Data measured in a DJI laboratory and is for reference only. For specific testing conditions, consult the corresponding product page on the DJI official website.

First, there are some misconceptions about these goggles and their compatibility with drones that come with the DJI RC 2 controller. At the time of writing, these are the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3. Unlike the Goggles 2, the Goggles 3 can be used with the RC 2 controller. Most people are likely purchasing the Goggles 3 as a standalone product because they have a drone that uses the RC 2 controller and do not wish to use the Motion controller. I am not fond of the instructions that come with the goggles, so I will assist you with the setup process here:• Connect the goggles to your phone for activation using a cable that can connect to the USB-C port on the goggles. You can likely also do this with the RC 2 controller, but I used my phone for convenience. In my case I used the USB-C to Lightning cable that came with my iPhone.• Open the DJI app and you will be prompted to activate the goggles and update the firmware.• Select the drone you are using within the app.• Power on both the drone and the RC 2 controller.• To sync the goggles with your drone: • Press and hold the power button on the goggles until it beeps. • Press and hold the power button on the drone until it beeps. • The screen on the RC 2 controller will go blank as the drone connects and functionality transfers to the goggles. The goggles themselves are very nice, and the picture is clear. They are a great complement to my drone when used with the RC 2 controller. The main reason I acquired these was that when outside during the day, I would wear sunglasses, making the controller difficult to see. The goggles solve this problem. The reason I give this product only four stars is that you lose some functionality with the drone while using the goggles. For example, with the Air 3, I cannot switch between the 1x and 3x lenses — you can still zoom in on the 1x lens, but I would like to see it automatically kick over to the 3x lens once you hit 3x zoom on the 1x lens. All I can do is control the drone, return to home (RTH), and pan/tilt the camera. Additionally, the goggles really should come with a case of some kind — no one plans to buy this product to only fly around their house. If they update the software to give it the same functionality as the RC 2 controller I would update this to 5 stars.

It is a cool piece of tech. Not as heavy as I expected it to be and once you get through the initial setup out the box, which will most likely include a firmware update for you as well, it has a slot above the bridge of the nose to playback video footage as well as stereoscopic video. I recommend operating while sitting unless you double tap the right temple which allows PiP view and you can choose to see your surroundings or your drone/video feed as the dominant view. If you choose to walk around be aware that objects in the camera view built in are zoomed in a foot or two.

I’ve been using this with my DJI Air 3 and they are TOO LIMITED so far. Many functions are not available while using the goggles. You can’t switch from 1x to 3x lens at all. You can’t record in portrait mode, it’s annoying to set everything from the dial on the goggles. NOT recommended at all.

TLDR: DJI is frustrating and I will be doing everything in my power to not purchase their products again.

Yeah this is so frustrating. I'll preface this by saying I ABSOLUTELY SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER RESEARCH as to confirming that the air unit o3 and goggles 3 were compatible. However based on these comments and other forums it seems DJI has a habit of implementing intentionally obtuse naming conventions designed to confuse consumers.

This confusion puts me in a very uncomfortable position as a first time drone builder where, long story short, I am sitting on a thousand dollar drone and goggles that I simply cannot use. My options are either to buy another goggle (the goggles 2) just for the privilege of being able to fly the damn thing, two; wait for the 04 unit, and three; hope that this firmware update comes out soon. All of these options suck as the goggles 2 will be obsolete when the firmware update comes out, the air unit 04 will render the expensive 03 unit obsolete (and i have to wait), and waiting for the firmware makes me stare at a beautiful drone for months that I simply cannot fly.

After this experience I think I'm going to go with option 4: sell the goggles 3 and air unit 03 and move over to the HDZero system which was what I should have done in the first place.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 24, 2024
The compatibility and performance of the DJI Goggles 3 with the DJI Air 3 drone have received mixed reviews. While DJI has introduced firmware updates to enable the Air 3 to work with various goggles, including the Goggles Integra and Goggles 2, users have reported several issues that may affect the overall experience.

Compatibility Issues: Initially, there were compatibility concerns, with many users noting that the Goggles 3 did not support the Air 3 out of the box. Even with firmware updates, the process of ensuring full functionality has been cumbersome for some users (DroneDJ) (DJI Mavic, Air & Mini Drone Community).

Usability Problems: The usability of the goggles with the Air 3 can be problematic. For instance, users have reported difficulties with setting exposure and other camera settings while flying, as these adjustments need to be made through the goggles rather than a more intuitive touchscreen interface. This can be particularly annoying during flight, leading to a less smooth experience compared to using a traditional controller screen (DroneXL.co).

Situational Awareness: Another significant issue is the reduction in situational awareness when using the goggles. While the FPV view can be immersive, it limits peripheral vision and the ability to easily see around the drone. This can make it more challenging to navigate and avoid obstacles, especially in complex environments (DroneXL.co).

Lack of Key Features: Users have also pointed out the absence of certain features like a histogram and adequate external camera functionality, which further detracts from the overall user experience. The external cameras on the goggles are often seen as insufficient for maintaining situational awareness, making the use of goggles feel more like a trade-off rather than an enhancement (DroneXL.co).

Value for Money: Given these issues, many users feel that the DJI Goggles 3 may not justify their high cost when paired with the DJI Air 3. The limitations and the somewhat cumbersome setup and use reduce the overall perceived value, making it hard to recommend for those looking for a seamless and fully integrated FPV experience (DroneDJ) (DJI Forum).

Overall, while the DJI Goggles 3 can offer a unique FPV experience with the DJI Air 3, they come with several drawbacks that might make them not worth the investment for all users. If you are considering them, it is essential to weigh these potential issues against the immersive benefits they offer.
