Purchase experience was good the new phone arrived as promised and has been working without any issues. The price was very reasonable too.
After inserting the SIM, only the phone and SMS were working. Turned out because this is an international version it is not registered in the ATT system. The folks at the local ATT shop quickly did an emulation, data was connected, everything was functioning and no issue since.
Just so happened my son bought a new Iphone13 pro and we both took the same photo same time same light condition. Although the image on the screen seems not as sharp as the Iphone 13 pro, the image when enlarged under the computer is of higher resolution and much sharper. I was only using the Sony Basic photo mode and the more advanced photo mode would produce an even better quality image. The color is true natural and does not look artificial like those in other high end phones. In my opinion, the Sony Xperia 1 III is a true photographer's camera.
The sound quality with the high quality sound setting turned on is amazing!
Overall, I am very happy that I purchased this phone.

I like the Sony Xperia phones and the phone is exactly what I expected. It worked right away (after giving it a good charge). The setup and transfer of my apps has been the only necessary task. The phone arrived on time.

It seems Sony gave up on some of their own developed software, i.e. Xperia Keyboard, Sony Album, Xperia Home … etc. It's just like any other Android system cellphone now (Hopefully, the system will be smoother lol). There are always pros and cons, I'm just not used to it and feel disappointed since I'm a Sony enthusiast.

Speaking of hardware, it's definitely a high level spec cellphone. I'm not going to put specification here but simply share my feelings. When I watch videos/ movies which support 4K, the display on this cellphone is amazing! The image is really sharp and clear. I could see every drop of sweat on Will Smith's face lol Plus, the audio is awesome! The sound can be very loud (loud enough to hear clearly what people say in the videos/movies), but not broken, still good quality sound. Last but not least, the camera is fantastic. My favorite feature is I could switch between camera lenses, it helps a lot to capture the scene the way I want. For example, taking a picture of ultrawide scene in a close distance.

There are too many to share, it's definitely a wonderful cellphone worth of people's attention. Only one thing to be noted, the charger is UK/CA spec, so I can't use it in the U.S., I wish the sellor mention this, I don't like this "surprise". Minus one star for the "surprise".

Couldn't find anything I liked about the Sony compared with a Samsung Galaxy S8.. I purchase the Sony for its alleged superior camera.. Reconstructed some photo taken in the past with the Samsung Galaxy S8 in low conditions and the Sony didn't come near to the quality of the Samsung.. The Sony was not worth the waiting for.. .. Not a comfortable phone and not worth the money..
I have a Sony α7R IV Mirrorless which I love but definitely not Sony's Xperia 1 III XQ

I specifically purchased the international version for the extra storage and cheaper price but I did not want to sacrifice 5g. I could not get a clear answer as to whether 5g T mobile worked with the international version of this phone anywhere. So I called the seller who assured me 5g does work. Well, it does not work. The phone worked perfectly well on lte plus but the 5g did not work. Luckily the seller honored the return. But beware, if you care about 5g. Get the US version.

The Sony Xperia 1 iii camera quality is so bad.... The pictures are fuzzy and grainy. The performance is laggy for a 12 gig ram phone... The screen doesn't even appear to be OLED...
Overall this phone has disappointed my expectations.
Definitely not a flagship device at all.... Not worth the price.

One of the few phones left with a great headphone jack. Sony provides a great media consumption experience with its DSEE and lovely front dual speakers. The tall but narrow screen is not too difficult to use one handed with one handed mode turned on. The Snapdragon 888 gets fairly warm with heavy use. Overall a great phone, and if the price difference is big enough it is still worth more than buying the newer xperia 1 iv.
