I purchased and Amazon renewed iPhone 14 for my daughter for Christmas. It’s May and the phone is garbage. No worries - I purchased the Asurion insurance for $170 along with the phone. Well, the plan is a joke. It took 2 hours to file a claim because they didn’t have a yellow IPhone 14 listed as a product in their system. They wanted me to call back in two weeks to see if they had added yellow as color in their system. Finally got the claim filed. Do I get a replacement? No I pay $99 and get a shipping label to return the phone to them. They will send me an Amazon gift card for the cost of phone minus taxes. So 5 months after getting the phone I’m out $300 and in 10 days I’ll have an Amazon gift card. The insurance they offer through Amazon is not the same as what they offer through your phone carrier or Walmart. It’s a cheaper insurance that really does nothing. Worst investment. For an extra few hundred, buy directly from Apple or your phone carrier. What a joke.
When I initially called I was told it was $99 to process the claim. I told them that my contract said $39 for a repair. After talking to 2 associates and then finally a supervisor they finally said that they do not offer a repair of a Samsung Fold inner screen only replacement. Ok fine. I paid that took the phone to a Ubreakifix for shipping back. Your refund is supposed to be sent to your Amazon account email in 1-3 days. I waited the full 3 days before inquiring again. Was told that something wasn't processed correctly. It was escalated and corrected. Again another 1-3 days. Still nothing. Have called back again. Another escalated and corrected. And I'm supposed to wait another 1-3 business days. If the refund wasn't in the form of an Amazon credit,I would have already replaced the phone.
I have used Asurion many times in the past, when it was the preferred vender for T Mobile. I always had great service so expect the same here. Plus its a lot cheaper than the protection plans offered by rhe carriers or manufacturers.
