I live in an area that has power surges. Sometimes several a month, sometimes none for weeks. Even with the surge protectors in place, they will still take out a TV once in awhile. The Asurion protection plan is perfect for my needs and very reasonably priced compared to other plans. It does have limited protection but it suits my needs. The claim process is simple and resolved quickly. Just make sure to read the policy and be informed about what you are getting.

DID NOT get a 3 year protection plan. The TV we purchased (which was $159 not $149) did not work. Connection was not fastened properly to rear of TV - Had to return it (to Best Buy) and get another one. If your going to purchase this through Amazon - DON"T HAVE IT SENT !
