Gaming phone in an everyday driver clothingI bought this to replace an aging but respectable LG but I must say it performs better on orders of magnitude, no surprise there. I thought it was a Qualcomm chipset but it's the Mediatek Dimensity 1080 which is a very respectable higher performer for an everyday phone (AnTuTu 490526 v9). It runs on 6nm circuits which is super tiny (millenial+ speak) so it's supposed to be great on battery life, and mine doesn't disappoint. On standby overnight, I lose about 1-2% battery, sometimes none with WiFi off. So if you have more apps they will inevitably phone home to get notifications to sell you more stuff and so forth so that will take up more battery too.Now I got this model because I thought it'd be decent for gaming and it has exceeded expectations. The built-in Game Booster app is a game changer because it makes it go from 20fps to 120fps!! Now normally like everyone else I despise bloatware but this one is welcome by all means! Racing sims like Rally Horizon on High or Ultra settings play smoothly. It's an incredible experience. The 6gb/8gb memory will call another 6gb/8gb virtual memory to ensure performance, so even when there's snow or rain falling on the track, and the water reflects the sky and mountains while you're zipping by, your gameplay is not affected. All this for under $300, and under $250 at a time! To me that is just unprecedented value. The speaker is definitely loud enough, it's a dual speaker setup just like dedicated gaming phones! Wow AGAIN! And there's a earphone jack if you wanted a more immersive experience. Remember those? The IR blaster (whaaaaaat) can control tvs, remote lights (yes Xiaomi got your back you purple and pink ambient lighting late night owls) and appliances, although that idea hasn't caught on here and is mostly in some parts of the world where you need the AC every day almost.Anyway this isn't the newest Redmi Pro to come out especially now with the Note 14 on the way but it sure as inflation is one of the most affordable. The 6.67" screen is huge, bright and sharp and the games depending on developer fills up the entire screen. Movies, also. I mean, with some light power reading glasses and holding the phone close, it looks huge, like a 10' lcd tv. Kind of like the 'every closet is a walk-in closet if you try hard enough' thing.I can go from 3-5% Battery to 100% in about 30 min. 30 minutes - the time it takes to shower, ****, shave/moisturize, and brush, the phone is ready at 100%. The 67w fast charger and Xiaomi cable makes this happen. And that's not the fastest either, Xiaomi makes higher end phones with an unbelievable 120W charging but it's not going to be under $300. So in this price range, I find it exceptionally remarkable that Xiaomi can provide this speed of charging for much less than flagship price. The 67W charging brick is even included! Sometimes I wonder if this phone was originally made as a mass consumer gaming phone, because it sure looks like it was designed this way. It doesn't have a giant heatsink so maybe a high performance daily driver - the very definition of 'Pro'. I'm not sure about the cameras because I'm not a social media butterfly but I read both good and bad things about the camera, so if the camera is what you really need in a phone there's probably better choices, but be prepared to pay and pay and pay like there's no tomorrow, because for many businesses here especially in Silicon Valley, there really isn't!!!! Layoffs, anyone??? Xiaomi solves this problem in part, by making a phone that works that people can afford, and don't have to cough up a Samsung washer/dryer price tag or 36-month financing to pay it off!All the positive observations with the other reviews I am able to affirm. The negative aspects, not so much, I'm happy with mine at least. I do know some have screen quality issues so maybe those few flukes are what returns are made for. I also only wish the fingerprint reader was onscreen but I suppose you always gotta leave some room for improvement, at least that's what my previous manager used to say (which is bullsheet, planned obsolescence I suppose).I am curious how far the Dimensity cpu and Mali gpu can go in performance. I bet it could handle all office productivity suites effortlessly and Adobe photo editing or video editing suites. Who knows, possibly even Blender. Now to cast or attach via usb c to a much larger monitor and let the fireworks shows begin. Once again it's just remarkable how much of a value this particular item is and the scary thing is it's already two gens old and they just got started.Way to go Xiaomi!!! Bravo and Bellisimo!
