There's not many rugged phones on the market and at this price point it's hard to tell which ones work and which ones fall flat. I've tested it so you don't have to though and yes it works while underwater. Just note that of course you can't press buttons once the screen is fully submerged.The rest of the phone works as you'd expect. The bumpers on the edges make me feel safe handing this to a child without the need for a case. There is a pre-installed screen protector, so once you buy this phone you can use it right away.
