What I didn't like about the phone was the FM radio feature, it was barely functional but I don't listen to the radio on my phones. I wished it came with a 3.5mm headphone jack like the A9, inconvenient if you use a wired headphone and needs to charge at the same time.

Hubby needs to take detailed pics on the job, of blueprints, parts and materials, updates and etc. This phone is guaranteed to capture all of the details and with the amount of storage available he can hang on to whatever he needs to for however long he needs.
Plus there's plenty of space for personal items too. The battery life is great! We both do not charge our phones unless we need to anyway, but this phone has went 3 days so far and is just now needing charging. That's with his video watching too. The battery is great.
Hubby is really good about closing down apps and shutting pages down once done. That saves on the data and speed usage. Those who aren't used to doing so may experience lag if you've got numerous apps or tabs running at once.
In my opinion, however that is to be expected with a more affordable phone. All of the other specs really make this a good deal! The reception is great. Clear calls. No drops so far. Just overall a great phone at a great price!
The other noticeable things are the good specs: 8GB of RAM, plus another 8GB of "soft" RAM, or virtual RAM, 128GB of memory, and a very generous and rare 6,000mAh battery, which allows this phone to easily last you through the day.
However, and this is where you have to cut costs to make the phone only $170, is the very slow CPU/processor. If you do simple tasks, or use one app at a time without switching to other apps, then it's fine. However, as you use more and more apps throughout the day, the phone starts to lag because the slow processor can't keep up. So to be perfectly honest with you, I do not recommend this as your main phone. What this is ideal for, is a secondary phone, especially if you do a lot of traveling. As a secondary or emergency phone, it would last you all day, and if you just use it to make calls, send texts, use a texting app, etc. then it's perfectly fine. So at a $170, especially if you're going on an extended overseas trip, this phone would be a great complement to say your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy.
The phone boasts impressive specs for the price, including a generous amount of RAM and storage (expandable up to 1TB!), a large 6.6-inch screen, and a long-lasting 6000mAh battery. The Android 13 operating system ensures a smooth and up-to-date user experience. If you're looking for a phone that's built to last and doesn't skimp on features, the UMIDIGI G5 Mecha is definitely worth considering.

Here is a general list of the important specs on this unlocked phone:
1- Dual SIM and Comes with second latest official release of Android 13.
2- Octa-Core Processor.
3- 6.56 Inch HD display. (1612 X 720)
4- 8GB of running RAM.
5- 128GB of storage.
6- 6000 mAh battery.
7- 50MP Camera / 8MP Selfie camera on front.
8- Fingerprint Sensor.
9- RUGGED build to resist water, dust, and shock.
10- Comes with screen protector installed, 10-watt Fast Charger, and USB-C cable.
Setup was as expected with no issues at all. The phone’s screen is clear and crisp, and it was easy to type and select without any glitches. Wi-Fi connected fast, I setup my Google account, and all my apps loaded from backup without any problems.
One thing this phone doesn’t have that I wished it did was NFC (Near Field Communication) capability so you can use Google Wallet to tap and pay for purchases. You can’t use without NFC. Bummer!
I did appreciate while setting up the phone is there isn’t any bloatware or apps for advertising etc. The stock Android 13 comes as is.
The layout of the buttons is slightly different than other phones I’ve had. The volume up and volume down button are on the right-hand side, but lower and next to the power on/off button that doubles as the fingerprint sensor. The SIM tray is on the top left side of the phone, and you do not require a SIM tool to open it. There is a rubber cover which is also part of the tray. You just use your fingernail to gently pry it open. There is no 3.5mm audio jack on this phone so wireless connectivity is the only option.
The phone is responsive and just as good as my previous flagship model. Swiping is smooth without drag or jerky movements. Its sensitive to touch and the phone responds quickly. Even with multiple apps running in the background, I didn’t notice any lag.
The brightness level on this phone is slightly dull. Even at the highest brightness level, the phone just doesn’t have the brightness compared to my previous phone. Side by side, the Umidigi is dull looking but by itself without comparison, its OK. I do wish it pushed out a brighter display.
I was able to connect to my Network as soon as I inserted the SIM card. Keep in mind that this phone only works with Canadian Networks that share the Bell or Rogers infrastructures. Call quality is excellent. The speaker and mic work well too. No issues texting or using messenger. All connectivity worked without any glitches.
One of the best features of this phone is the Rugged design. The phone feels heavy, but you can see the added protection in the molded case as part of its design. All 4 corners have an extra hard padded protective layer. The build and design seem rugged as advertised but I’m not about to drop the phone to test it.
The camera takes excellent pictures. I included just one in this review to show the color and sharpness at the default settings only.
Conclusion:
I like the phone. Wish it had NFC and a brighter display, but its hard to beat the specs on this phone for the price. You get a latest version of Android, 6.6” HD display, Dual SIM, 8/128 GB of Ram and Storage, 6000mAh long lasting battery, a 50MP camera, and the Rugged build to resist water, dust, and shock.
At the time of this review, there is also an available 22.00-dollar coupon. This phone with all its features under 200.00-dollars is an exceptional bargain.

Out of the box, I am quite impressed with the ruggedness of it, the corners extend a little more past the screen so even if it drops on a weird angle, or falls out of his pocket, I have a good feeling it will be well protected on the front. The back side however around the cameras does not really have any protection, so if the phone drops on the back, it'll scratch or damage the back side, so id recommend a case of some sort.
The android 13 is actually pretty darn smooth for what it is and the operating system it has. Opening and closing apps is nice and snappy. One con I have however is the screen brightness. I suppose im used to bright beautiful screens but it just seems dim, like its on 80-85% brightness, which makes it difficult to use outside unless you're blocking the sun.
I threw in a sim card for my son and it works on 4G great, the texts come through nice and quick, the microphone quality is pretty clear and works for day to day calls.
The phone resolution is decent, I wouldnt want to watch videos on it all day but for any facetime calls through whatsapp or facebook, it works for that but youtube and netflix quality isnt ideal.
With that, it says it has a 50mp camera, which ill take their word but its hard to tell as the screen resolution capabilities dont do the 50mp justice but from what ive seen so far the camera quality is pretty good.
Actual storage is around 115gb and Im not sure if its expandable as I havent found a way to do so, regardless, 115gb is more than enough for what we plan to do with it.
In terms of battery life, it seems to last 2 days with semi regular use so im pretty impressed with that, and "semi-regular" use is a few text messages and maybe a few calls with the occasional youtube video im sure he watches so it doesnt get a whole ton of use, but 2 days is still good in my book.
Overall, for the cost, I see the value in most of it with a couple small quirks as mentioned. Dont try to compare it to $1500+ phones and you'll enjoy it.

This is the second phone from this brand that I've ordered and its even better than the last one (which i was very happy with). They are really bridging the gap to the $1K+ phones.
I wont speak to the manufacturers spec's, you can check the advert for that. That said, I will say that this phone feels like a premium brand in your hand. Looking the part too. So far I have had no issues with performance, sending/receiving calls and texts with ease.
I have not anything more demanding yet like a FPS game, but will likely try in the near future. That should weed out any performance issues, if there are any.
Its has been just as fast as I expected from a brand new phone.
I like that it has expendable memory, I have run out of memory on iPhones before (from excess picture taking) and there is no way to expand the memory on iPhones. Popping an extra memory card in is an ideal solution to that.
Speaking of picture taking, the camera is also quite good. I am always pleasantly surprised when using a new phone, how much phone cameras have advanced. Pictures are crisp.
At this price range for a new phone in the Canadian market, I think this will be a hard to top. Easy 5/5
As always, I will update my review in the future if my opinion on the product changes.
