and I really wish it a hard cover for the display. That said, this case fits well and will allow for replacing the film screen protector with something beefier. As for protection, I brainfarted the other day and left the tablet on the hood of my car, where it stayed put for over 6 miles. The trip was 7. I only realized what happened when my earpiece said "device disconnected" and I saw my tablet was not on the passenger seat. Doubling back and using language I'm not old enough to repeat, I used "Find My Mobile" and was shocked to see the tablet was still active! When I found it the case was banged up and the screen protector was chipped but the tablet itself was undamaged, not a dent or scratch! I've got it in the backup Supcase now and will be buying another backup case soon. Was not initially impressed but damned if it didn't do the job. Check out the pics and bare in mind, when the tablet slipped off, the car was doing about 70mph.

When looking for a new case I wanted something secure that covered all the edges and ports but wasn't unreasonably thick, and also had the pop out stand. Now let me preface this tablet is not FOR or toddler, it is one i use for work and personal but upon occassion we will put movies on it for travel or long outting days or as kids do he will get a hold of it. I ordered this case and let me tell you I've been IMPRESSED. It it a pain to get on but it's because it's fitted so well to the tablet. No way for liquids to get in, all the ports have a cover. EX: my toddler turned a bottle upside down on it and managed to empty the bottle... not one drop got into any cracks or crevices. Wiped right up. It's absolutely drop proof, EX: my toddler threw it from my couch and it did a nice set of 4 cartwheels on a vinyl wood floor.... no dings or scrapes on the case and no rebound internal damage to my tablet. The built in screen protector thus far has been scratch proof and is very clear, I don't feel it takes away from the screen quality and it also does not greatly impact my ability to use the touch screen with my finger or with my S Pen, sometimes i might need to use a little more pressure with my S Pen when using some of my graphic design apps but not in a way that is frustrating or making it hard to use the apps.
Over all I am EXTREMELY impressed but this cases overall design, size, durability and just plain QUALITY for the price!!! I would highly recommend this.

The included directions are for the Beetle product for a mobile phone, but the installation is so intuitive, no stars deducted: clean the tablet face, pry the Beetle rear case away from the screen protector along the edges and separate front (s.p.) and rear (case), remove three films (front of s.p., rear of s.p., and fingerprint lablel), squeeze s.p. onto tablet, squeeze tablet mated with s.p. (with stylus removed) into rear case, attach pen. The instructions said to remove any existing s.p. before installing the Beetle, but I had a 9H tempered glass s.p. on my S7+ and left it on. Everything works perfectly. In fact, fingerprint recognition works now and didn't work before... maybe because I set up fingerprints in landscape mode (i.e., maybe trying in portrait mode doesn't work well on the S7+). BTW, my S7+ is the LTE version... mobile data works fine with the Beetle on (this may be why Beetle made this version all plastic... to avoid impairing RF performance).

This case fits well and feels durable. I'm happy with the purchase. I needed a rugged case that would sit flat. The pen holder does protrude, but it's a softer plastic that allows the table to sit relatively flat if the pen is removed.

However, the screen protector that comes with it is lacking. It's a sheet of plastic glued to the front part of the clam shell case. It does not stick to your screen. It doesn't prevent the touch features of the tablet from working, but I didn't like the hazy look and I worried about the protection of the screen since it's plastic. Other reviews mention the circle on the fingerprint reader - it can be peeled off. It's an extra round piece of plastic or adhesive that seems like it is intended to stick to the screen and transfer your fingerprint. If you don't like the look, the fingerprint sensor works without it.

I took the advice of other reviews and chose to buy a separate glass screen protector and remove the plastic sheet that came with this. Looks perfect and works great.

The case is very durable and seems like it will protect my tablet. I bought it for times when I might be away from home and outdoors, without much need for the keyboard book cover. This case is perfect for outdoor use, or if you have accident prone kids.

I actually own other versions for my phones and a previous Tab S6. The construction of the body of this case is similar to the Tab S6 version. However the stand on the S6 version had a metal brace that locked it in place when open. This version has a thin plastic brace. Now in all fairness, the material could be durable and only time will tell.

Update: The stand has been holding up well and is more durable than its thin nature would indicate.
