Super solar panel is truly "Super"
In summary, this thing is a BEAST!I recently got this for a stick-up cam I installed on the front of our 2-story townhouse (yes, the super solar panel DOES work with the stick-up cam). The camera is under the first-floor overhang near the front door, facing the street and the solar panel is mounted to the rain gutter at the second story (purchased the gutter mount separately here on Amazon). The cable had sufficient length for this install, with about a foot or so to spare (it measured 13 feet long and has the weatherproof right-angle barrel plug.)I went with the super solar panel thinking that the smaller one might not be able to keep up since that camera gets a good amount of motion events all day (and even a good bit of the night). In short, I probably should have got the smaller one as it more than likely would have been sufficient since we get unobstructed sunlight all day and the panel is mounted directly south. However, I can tell from the first few days experience with this thing that it would work well for people who may have less than ideal sunlight, like more trees or cases where you can't get optimal placement of the panel.I first installed the panel late in the evening, after it was nearly dark and camera battery was at 95%. The next morning by around 8AM, before the sun had even come up the battery was back to 100%. It stayed that way all day. The next night the battery only dropped to 99% and again as soon as the panel got some daylight it was back to 100%. From this experience I'd say it could handle just about anything, almost like the camera is plugged in and no worry about the battery running down. I have all motion settings set to their maximum levels (120 second max recording length, highest sensitively level, the entire view as a motion zone, and snapshot capture every 5 minutes).I haven't tried the smaller one yet, but will probably get that one for the back yard camera, which gets very little motion. I'm also fairly sure the smaller one would have been more than enough for the front camera, given that we do get excellent sun exposure, but it's up there now and I figure you can never have too much power. It will probably work just fine, even if we have a series of cloudy/rainy days. Also, for those who have questions or concerns about the type of plug this has, please see attached photo. In general, I am extremely impressed with this product, as well as all the Ring products I have. Every one of them has been extremely high quality and they really seem to put a lot of time into their development. Everything just works and works well.

Before purchasing two of these Ring Super Solar Panels, I had two regular Ring Solar Panels for my Spotlight Battery Cameras. The regular Solar Panels only fully charged my Spotlight Cameras in direct daylight during spring & summer. When it rained or when there wasn't much sunlight outside my cameras would barely charge and I was basically SOL. From my experience, the regular Ring Solar Panels should only be used if you can position them in constant direct sunlight and don't get a lot of activity on your cameras. For my own needs, I needed a more powerful panel that could charge my cameras year-round and support their consistent battery usage.

I've been using the Super Solar Panels for 6 months now and have had zero issues since installation. My camera batteries have stayed at 99/100% charge even in the dead of winter and on rainy & cloudy days. They've held up incredibly well during rough weather and haven't moved from their installation position whatsoever. My only complaint is that they're comically big compared to the regular Ring Solar Panels, but the bigger size is a small price to pay for how effective they are.

If you're trying to decide on whether to purchase the regular solar panels or the super solar panels, I would highly recommend paying the extra money and getting these. The one-time setup, zero additional maintenance, and incredible performance makes them worth every penny.

Placed a Ring spotlight camera battery at the apex of the roof gable over my garage, overlooking my driveway. I do not have an electrical outlet or junction box at this location, so I bought the regular Ring solar panel for the camera to keep the battery charged, hoping it would keep me off ladders to recharge.

My house is in the woods and my house faces northwest, so direct sunlight is tricky, and typically only in the afternoon. I get maybe 4-5 hours of direct sun (through trees that are missing leaves). I mounted the first panel (the regular-sized one) on the roof facing south. That panel was unable to reliably charge the battery on the camera, but did seem to help keep it from discharging as quickly. At most, on a sunny day, it would pick up 4-5% charge at most, but overcast days saw no gain. Realizing that, even with the regular panel, trips up the ladder every few weeks to retrieve and charge the battery in the cam would be necessary, I returned the smaller panel and ordered this larger one.

What a difference! The panel is much larger than the regular one (about twice the size), but this made a HUGE difference in charging the camera's battery. I measured a 16% battery gain in one day of clear skies, and the battery, which had been at about 70% when I installed the new panel, was at 100% in 2 days. It even charges on overcast days, and my camera has been sitting at 98-100% every day since. No more ladders. My wife would say the $100 price tag is worth it...my getting onto the roof makes her extremely nervous.

Would recommend this to set-and-forget your Ring spotlight battery camera...it works great.

Yesterday I installed this solar panel and my battery's showed as L 3% and R 24% about 10ish in the morning. a whole day of sun yesterday and so far 5hours of pure sun today and both battery's on spotlight cam solar are at almost full. L100% and R 92%. This really works too well. Hopefully overcharging battery to full daily doesn't damage battery in long run. So far in 5min of writing I went from 92% to 94%.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's definitely really good!
Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2021
UPDATE 14/07/22:
The larger solar panel compared to the smaller panel is absolutely a substantial difference, still no issues with the panel. Spotlight camera running on maxed out settings and still stays fully charged or at least within 95% - 100% throughout all 4 seasons.

I recommend this solar panel, you legitimately won’t have to worry about it anymore (once it’s properly installed facing the correct direction of the sun.)

Great product. Keeps my two batteries in the spotlight cam fully charged at 100% so far. I'll report again in winter but I can also record longer videos and use the better settings for better security rather than skimping and use lesser ones to save battery power. No more climbing ladder every 2or 3 weeks to change battery.

So far, battery charge levels have varied from 98% to 100%, and this in mostly rainy, gloomy weather. I was able to mount the solar panel facing south, which I'm sure helps.
