Multiple Chime Pro interoperability

Multiple Chime Pro interoperability
My router is centrally-located and I needed chimes at both ends of my home as well as the Chime Pro network signal extended. I bought one unit to try out and then another a week later. The second Chime Pro arrived in a much larger product box. After installation, I verified that the firmware of each unit is up to date. However, I noticed that my doorbell and cameras seemed to prefer staying connected to the first Chime Pro. I unplugged the first Chime Pro to force the units to connect to the second, but whenever I unplugged and re-plugged cameras, they tended to reconnect to the first. I also tried moving the Chime Pro units around and discovered that the second unit failed to automatically reconnect to my router. At first, I thought that I had inadvertantly pressed the side button when I plugged it back in. A couple of days ago, our neighborhood lost power and when it came back, I discovered that the second Chime Pro restarted in Setup mode and was unable to reconnect. I requested a replacement of the second unit from Amazon and received another unit packaged in the smaller box. After setting it up the new chime, I noticed that some camera units reconnected to the new unit as it was closer and had a stronger signal. However, after a short period of time, I noticed that one of the cameras (Indoor Cam, 2nd Gen) reverted to the first Chime Pro which was more distant and had a weaker signal. When I tried to reconnect each camera to the Chime Pro network, another camera would reconnect to the distant and weaker Chime Pro. I rebooted all of the cameras and they reconnected to the closest Chime Pro with the stronger signal and the connections have been stable since. The signal strength of all clients are much stronger overall with the addition of the newest Chime Pro compared to with the second unit. I also cycled the power to the new chime and confirmed that it automatically reconnects to my router, same as the first unit.I can only guess that the second Chime Pro in the larger box is an older unit. Whether all of the Chime Pro units are on the same firmware revision is unknown since the software does not display firmware version numbers. Each unit may have been on the latest version supported by that particular model, but a different version than the other. I cannot tell any other physical differences between the units. The MAC ID prefixes of all three units are different, possibly indicating different network hardware inside. The behavior after power loss and restoration is definitely unacceptable as the cameras would have been disabled until I return home and re-run setup.

I bought the Chime Pro for the wifi extender, but it's so nice to extend the doorbell *sound across the house as well (in a far room for example). Plus, you can add different sounds for different occasions. The dog sound scared away a sales-person one time, that was funny to watch... and the Halloween ""Ghost"" sound will be great for that time of year.

It may be hard to justify the $$ for this small accessory, but for me... It's a pretty handy, and useful feature.

I had a little trouble with set up, but got it working. All you have to do is plug it in to get started. I like the night light. I wish I could figure out how to get it to boost my internet signal but not essential.

Whew! It was a challenge setting up only because my WiFi router had to be moved out of my guest bedroom to the living room closer to My Ring 2 Wireless Video doorbell and the Wireless Chime Pro plugged into a kitchen outlet. Now it works great! I only wish it was loader. I have the volume set to the max. I am a little worried I may not hear it in the master bedroom. I am hoping that I won’t have any network connectivity issues if I buy a Ring Wireless Motion Sensing Security light for the rear of my house. I also wish it was compatible with, and received notifications on my Google Home monitor that is setup on my bedroom nightstand because at night I shut down my iPhone when charging. It would be nice to see any possible intruders without leaving my bedroom. Fast Shipping and 5-Star Seller and Products!

Let me tell you about the Ring Chime Pro - it's been a game-changer for my home security setup! First off, if you've got a Ring Doorbell, this thing pairs up like peanut butter and jelly. Seriously, it's like they were made for each other.

Now, what does it do? Well, it's basically an extra pair of ears and eyes for your Ring Doorbell. When someone's at the door, instead of just your phone buzzing, the Chime Pro rings too, so you'll never miss a visitor, even if your phone's on silent or you're in the backyard. And trust me, that's a lifesaver when you're busy cooking dinner or chasing after the kids.

But it's not just about the doorbell - the Chime Pro also acts as a Wi-Fi extender, boosting your signal around the house. That means no more dead spots where your devices struggle to connect. Plus, it's certified refurbished, so you're getting all this goodness at a great price while being eco-friendly. If you've got a Ring Doorbell or just want to beef up your home security setup, the Certified Refurbished Ring Chime Pro is definitely worth checking out

This is an excellent product in two ways. First, it is a bridge for the ring devices to communicate, and second, it's a nightlight. Oh, third, the setup is much better than the older version if you have a smartphone.
