4 handsets for full house coverage
Living in a two story house requires multiple handsets. Even so I still seem to end up searching for one when we get a call. This set has four and can be expanded to six if needed. Our older set had four and at least one was always dead. These use rechargeable batteries that can be charged in the cradle/base.The box comes with four handsets sitting on top of the 3 bases and answering machine along with the four power adaptors and 8 AAA rechargeable batteries (handsets use 2 batteries each), a line cord and a user guide that has a lot of info (over 50 pages!)I am using my set with Ooma VoiP service. The blocking this unit uses is compatible as Ooma just really pushed the call through and only sends to voicemail if there is no answer. I need to test it out to see what happens when it does go to voicemail - i.e. with call blocking is Ooma taking the voicemail or is this unit going to?I did pair with my cell phone and transferred my 100+ contacts over. It didn't actually take too long to do. I expected the contacts to show up as the phones (handsets) contacts but they will appear under whatever Bluetooth name you assigned to your cell phone. That was a little confusing at first since they already showed like that prior to the import, but I turned off Bluetooth on my phone and saw the contacts remained so they are now on my home handsets as well. You can also make calls from your connected cell, I'm guessing that's useful if your cell is charging.The handsets are a bit large in my opinion but they are not uncomfortable to hold or use. Easy enough to read and use the touchpad as well. The do take two batteries (750mAh rechargeable Ni-MH included) and recharge those batteries when set in a base. The base itself has a led on the bottom that lights up when the power adapter is plugged in. The handset will initially light up when set in the base but turns off after a short while.The main base is a little larger than the other bases but not by much and it has the buttons for controlling playback of messages and a FIND button to figure out which cushion the handset is hiding behind! The main base is of course going to need to be near you VoiP is using one - otherwise if you still have a true landline, then it'll need to be close to your phone jack. The other handset can be where ever you want - within range of course. Not sure what that range is as I don't recall seeing it, but the Bluetooth connection mentioned 10ft. These handsets have a greater distance than that or else they'd be pointless.So far everything is working good and I like the handsets. Hopefully they'll last but to be honest, we simply don't get too many calls on the line anymore as everyone reaches us by our personal cell numbers now. I still like to use the "land line" for ordering out for some reason, force of habit I guess.
