Joled -holy grail of OLED with caveat

Joled -holy grail of OLED with caveat
this monitor the only model on the market that offers JOLED, which uses RGB strip for subpixel, eliminating text fringing on OLED monitors, for less than 1k usd. what that means is if you want to use this for productivity, such as doc and excel, the text are just as sharp as a IPS without cleartype since OSX doesn't offer that.comparing this to my lg g9 odyssey 49inch oled, this panel is clearly superior in terms of image retentions and quality, however this panel is held back massively by its firmware, once you select HDR on, all the other options such as gamma correction, DCI-P3, sRGB becomes greyed out and you cannot even adjust monitor brightness. for the last one I managed to find a workaround by installing Monitorcontrol on the app store.if you don't need to mess around with all these settings, you will be fine.there is also a matter of build quality, as the picture I posted, the speak grill already start falling off, I honestly didn't expect this since the whole frame of the monitor is metal yet the grill bits is plastic, I may or may not be nitpicking about it since I don't use the build in speaker and honestly like other reviews stated, this monitor would be alot more appealing and looks cleaner without the imac speaker chin approach.lastly there is a connectivity issue I experienced, none of my current TB3 and 4 cable works, only the factory cable that came with the monitor did, which i found odd since I have a TB4 cable from apple that costs 129 dollars, and yet included cable did, I would really like to know what about this factory cable that is so special that my 3 other more expensive cables didnt.all in all, if you want a monitor that gets the job done for productivity and casual games this is a good option for the price, if you are specifically looking for JOLED then this is the only option without dropping 1k plus for a asus proart or LG. if you have concern for OLED burn in, I don't have the answer for that, on my samsung odyssey g9, there are features that take account of burn in by auto dimming and active cooling, I haven't experienced any of these anti burn in features on this innocn monitor. do they even exist? I wouldn't know.

The 32Q1U uses the same JOLED panel as LG's 32EP950, which costs double. At 32 inches, I think this is the best size for an OLED monitor. 27' is too small, 42' too big.
Pros:
- Incredible colors, picture perfect
- Panel is lighweight, slim
- Included front firing speakers
- Dual USB-C ports with Alt-DP

Cons:
- White uniformity issues under daylight conditions. I suspect this is due to the coating, because whites look perfect in a dark room/ at night. Looks like this panel was intended for content creators over general productivity
- No HDMI/Displayport connectors. This monitor only has USB-C ports for video input, which is a strange design choice. There's a useless USB C port for audio out. The ports are also not durable, I'm not sure these will last too long. USB-C ports do NOT work with Thunderbolt.
- Unnecessarily heavy. The stand and monitor frame are overbuilt. This monitor could have been the lightest 32 inch on the market. 32EP950 is super light in contrast.
- Speakers are poor quality, add an ugly look to the monitor with an enlarged chin.

To summarize, this could have been the perfect 32 inch monitor for creators. Bad design choices limit the appeal.

As a Mac user with visual impairment, my top priority is the display's brightness, clarity, and size. Therefore, certain limitations of the monitor, like poor-quality speakers, didn't bother me much. I would have preferred a design focused solely on the display, without speakers, for a sleeker look.

The monitor's exclusive USB-C connectivity works well for me, as it charges my 16" MacBook Pro and provides video output via a single cable. However, the lack of additional USB ports, other video ports, a webcam, or a microphone is somewhat disappointing. Given the subpar speaker quality, I usually rely on my MacBook or iPhone for webcam needs, which offer superior performance.

My decision to buy this monitor wasn't made hastily. I only discovered it in November 2023. I tested four monitors, each for two weeks, to compare them side by side:
- Apple Studio Display
- BenQ PD3220U Thunderbolt 3 Monitor for Macbook 32" 4K UHD
- ASUS ProArt Display 32” 4K HDR Computer Monitor (PA32UCR-K)
- INNOCN 32" OLED 4K Computer Monitor

Each monitor had its strengths, but the INNOCN OLED display stood out for its exceptional video output quality and UHD capabilities, and it was surprisingly the least expensive. It's an excellent choice for anyone with visual impairments or who needs a very clear and high-quality video display.

I do have a suggestion for INNOCN: consider offering an upgraded model featuring top-notch speakers, a noise-canceling microphone, and a 4K webcam. Such enhancements would make an already great product even more appealing.

Pros:
- Sale price was shocking. OLED ultrawide for $480? I simply couldn’t pass up on the opportunity. I otherwise would have overlooked this monitor.
- Picture quality is astounding. OLED is no joke. Best display I’ve ever used. Instant response time, inky blacks, HDR gets really bright, infinite contrast, no blooming or black crushing, and colors are vibrant.
- The speaker bar is good. It won’t win any awards for sound quality but is great considering they are built in. It sounds decent and gets loud as hell. Some will think the chin looks bad, but I don’t mind it at all. Built in microphone that can be useful for video calls, but I won't use it over my blue snowball.
Cons:
- (UPDATE #2) Not VESA friendly. I purchased a monitor mount to fix the enormous stand being a problem for desk space. The “thoughtful addition” (that doesn’t even work) makes it so some VESA mounting plates cannot sit flush against the holes. Once you introduce washers to the mix the screws are way too long or way too short so I had to return the mounting kit. Waste of 40 minutes and now I have to drive to the UPS store.
- Coil whine. It’s nearly inaudible but distinct in a quiet environment.
- Wireless charger pad is subpar. It’s clearly not 15 watts. It cannot charge my iPhone. It says “charging” but doesn’t go up even after 30+ minutes. Only charges my AirPods when the case is off which normal Qi chargers can do. It’s big, bulky, and you need a deep desk to accommodate it. It seems like a thoughtful addition, but the implementation just sucks.
- No OLED care options. Monitor joystick takes some getting used to and there are no OLED care options such as OLED refresh. 1 year warranty also does not inspire confidence.
- (UPDATE) there is now a website page, but it doesn't have anything useful. Only thing on the website is some non-descriptive product specifications. No user guide, drivers or software, or reviews. Nothing useful but an improvement, I guess. I'm going to leave this as a con because it's not helpful.
- HDMI is limited to 100Hz. There's also only 1 DisplayPort (not counting the USB-C which I think can do DisplayPort). Meaning you are limited to 100Hz on HDMI-only devices such as the PS5. HDMI 2.1 has been around for long enough. This feels like a way to cheap out. The much more expensive Alienware version also has this but come on its 2024.
- Small nit-pick but the monitor joystick flashes white and is really bright when my room is dark. I have to turn off the monitor completely for it to go away at night.
I am really trying to deal with this monitor because I really do like the panel. But it’s just so difficult dealing with all the inconveniences that come with owning this.
