Its ability to transition seamlessly from run to bike to swim with a quick click of a button makes it the perfect training partner for aspiring amateurs and professional athletes alike. Most notably in comparison to other smart watches available, the 735XT incorporates Garmin's new and proprietary Elevate optical sensor at the wrist, eliminating the need for a chest strap. While Garmin claims Elevate is appropriate for tracking intense activities and training zones, it may be a good idea to stick to your traditional chest strap for interval sessions until Elevate's accuracy is proven, given the issues with many of the other optical sensors currently on the market. Garmin couches Elevate as freedom from heart rate straps on race day and recommends pairing the 735XT with a heart rate strap for precise data tracking during training and additional features such as ground contact time balance, stride length, and vertical ratio running dynamics. The Forerunner 735XT is GPS-enabled to track routes, distance, speed, and other metrics depending on your choice of activity, and all of the data can be uploaded to Garmin Connect for in-depth analysis. It also connects to Garmin's app store, Connect IQ, which opens the unit up for virtually limitless customizability through third-party apps and features. In addition to all this, it still brings the usual functionality that we've grown to expect from smart watches and wearables, including text and call notifications, steps taken, calories burned, and sleep patterns, so you can stay on top of nutrition and recovery.

Seriously. This watch is incredible. It’s accurate. It’s durable. It’s got fun colours. And oh yeah, it’s way cheaper than an Apple Watch. Sure, Apple Watches have beautiful displays, and vibrant colours, and… one more thing… but can they compete with this watch when it comes to running, and biking, and swimming? Not a chance! If that doesn’t convince you, read Tech Radar’s review!

And if you’re worried about buying renewed, don’t. I bought this for my wife’s Mother’s Day present. She didn’t give a flying flip that it was refurbished. The packaging look slick, it was done by the manufacturer, and it… looked… mint! I think I might have to get serious about getting in shape so I can deserve a watch this awesome!

I liked this device but this is my second one and I’ve been trying to replace it for the third time, but I can’t even find a way to contact Amazon. The first time, it glitched after using it to swim laps and now the heart rate monitor has stopped. Worked great until these things happened. I want a replacement but also nervous it’s going to happen again.

I bought this watch in April and by July it started malfunctioning. When I would go for open water swims, even though GPS said it was ready, I would hit start only to end my swim later realizing it either never even started tracking the distance or it started tracking extremely late so the distance was way off. Not the type of watch you want when you’re training or in the middle of a race. I also had the same issues with my last watch and eventually it just stopped working entirely and I hadn’t even had it for a year.

Todo parecía bien con el reloj, llegó sin batería pero lo conecté y a los pocos minutos ya estaba en 30% y lo configuré manualmente ya que aún no descargaba la app de Garmin para sincronizarlo con el teléfono. El primer y segundo día lo usé para nadar en aguas abiertas y marcó los tiempos, distancia y sincronización con el GPS correctamente. Pero perdía la sincronización del GPS constantemente. Al tercer día de usarlo en agua el reloj no lograba secarse de la pantalla y de pronto se apagó. Después de unas horas al apretar el botón de light se prendía instantáneamente la pantalla pero pixeleada en tonos grises y salía agua por los bordes al presionarla un poco. Después no volvió a prender. Al parecer la pantalla no estaba bien sellada y le entró agua. Lo he devuelto a Amazon y estoy esperando la aprobación de mi reembolso.
