For best results, do not mix with non-clumping cat litter. For first time use, start with an empty, clean cat litter box. Fill your clean litter box with 3 to 4 inches of Fresh Step® Cat Litter. Remove clumps and solids daily and dispose in trash. Do not flush. The rest of the litter stays fresh. Add more Fresh Step® Cat Litter to refresh your litter box each time you scoop. Maintain level of litter at 3 to 4 inches.

My cat has asthma. So, I have always purchased low dust litter. I have used Dr Elsey’s brand for the past 12 years and I thought it was the best until I tried this Fresh Step Advanced simply unscented 99.9% dust free litter. This stuff is amazing!Every time I used Dr Elsey’s a little dust will fly into the air when I dumped it out of the bag. I don’t know if that’s because the bag gets jostled in transit or what, but it clearly had some dust. Mind you, it’s much less than most other brands, but I was concerned when I started seeing dust at the bottom of the litter tray as well.So, I did some research and watched video of someone pouring the Fresh Step Advanced out, and it looked like nothing goes into the air- it’s crazy! There is a little dust on the bottom of the litter box, but way way less than other brands and I didn’t see any cloud up when I pour it.Some people may use a nonclumping crystal litter for their asthmatic cats, but that doesn’t work in a litter robot.This litter clumps, although I do find that it might take a while longer for it to do so. If you have a litter robot like me, maybe set it to the longer wait before cycle time, so you don’t have any wet stuck on litter when it cycles.Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase.I also appreciate that the litter comes in two smaller boxes for easy lifting and pouring.Great product!

I tried a few other litters. This one is a very good litter. It clumps very well, and barely see or smell any dust upon pouring new litter in her box like I was seeing with Arm & Hammer, and other litters i was using. And her box never has an odor. And, I love that it doesn't have a fragrance that would irritate their nose. I highly recommend Fresh Step unscented cat litter.

I am a new convert to this litter as of a few months ago! I have been using Dr. Elsey’s for a couple years and just couldn’t handle the quality inconsistency and glue-like clumps. I also tried the unscented versions of Tidy Cat and they smelled bad really fast. I got really tired of trying cat litters, but this one had mostly good reviews so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I have two male cats, one litter box (works fine for them) and I scoop religiously every morning and evening. I fully change out the litter every 2 weeks. One of my cats pees on the high sides of the litter box, onto a liner and then the pee drips down into the litter. I always had issues with Dr. Elsey’s because it stuck to the side and then broke apart in gross-smelly, gluey clumps when I tried to scrape it off. This Fresh Step litter makes hard clumps and absorbs super fast. That being said, I don’t shake the clumps very much when I scoop, since I don’t like taking the chance of a clump breaking apart.

Honestly, there IS some dust when I pour in the new litter. I don’t mind this. I don’t notice any dust when the cats are digging. It is not excessive, and (don’t hate me) I think the VERY slight dusty quality makes the scent absorbency better.

The scent absorbency is another award I’d give. I hate smelling cat litter, whether it’s the pee or the perfumey scent added by the litter company. This is unscented AND it covers scents so well! I had major scent issues in the past with every litter I’ve ever tried. Dr. Elsey’s was sometimes OK, sometimes horrible, and I could never figure out why.

Anyway, I love this stuff and I will probably be a customer for life! I am set up to get a 37lb set of boxes every 2 weeks and that works well for a large litter box with 2 cats.

This litter still has a light perfumed type of scent, but it’s still better than a lot of other fragrance free options I’ve tried. I’ve found it works much better if you keep at least 4 inches in the box and don’t break up the clumps when you scoop. Once enough of the clumps get broken up, I always have to change out the entire box because the whole thing smells REALLY bad really quickly.
