Superb replacement for Epson 5040UBe but needs some improvement
PROS:-Nice 4k picture even on normal screen.-Compact body with loud speaker for portability-Epson reliability. I only use their brand.-Super easy corner keystone setup; i cannot stress how important this feature is for non-experts like me. Just set it and forget it.CONS-Android TV is garbage. Not a problem if you use something else as your primary media player like a PS5.-Image is blurry at corners if its too far below the height of the screen.-Could be much brighter. Sometimes dark scenes are washed out by ambient lights in the home theater. 4,000 lumens seems like an exaggeration based on my observation- changing the screen settings is a needless pain because it requires you to change input sources and go to the Home Screen. Can’t do it right from the current source. Makes no sense at all.Verdict: Overall I am very happy with this projector and would not replace with any other UST device. I don’t find myself wishing I had another projector. I loved my Epson 5040UBe and the LS800 is a huge improvement in terms of image, design and novelty. However at a price point of $3500 it could be way better in terms of features.( specifically Android TV is terrible with a capital T). Perhaps with an ALR screen, I might bump my score higher but I give this a solid 4.0 out of 5 now after 7 months of use.

This projector is fantastic. It has great color, an app that can adjust for wall waviness if you don't have a screen where you are using it, amazing blacks and whites, and keeps up with gaming with no trouble. Would definitely recommend.

We do have a screen, but we haven't put it up yet. We just haven't gotten around to it, and the projector looks so good even without it.

To be fair, we do have a pretty great area for a projector. We don't have a dedicated theater room, but it is in a basement room with half windows covered with blackout curtains on either side. It works rather well.

My only gripe is that the physical size of the projector is big enough that it was a bit of a hassle to hunt down a surface to sit it on. We ended up with a coffee table. I'm not in love with it, but it works. We do have some added difficulty due to having to find something rather low to the ground since the ceilings are only 8ft in the room it is in.

I purchased the Epson because of the quantity of good reviews on the picture quality and low latency for video gaming. I didn't realize how low the video quality was on my 75" Samsung until I had this thing set up and running. The phone app does a great job setting up the projection onto my screen and making sure every millimeter of the screen is used without bleeding over the edges. It definitely lives up to the hype.

The regular HDMI input and the Android TV options work great with the remote and ARC audio out to my sound bar. I can switch easily to my PC, my main home entertainment source, and Android TV with little problem. The sound controls on the remote operate my sound bar just fine. The two work in tandem well. That is until you switch to the game console specific HDMI input.

The settings associated with the 4k 120hz game console specific HDMI input is nothing short of frustrating. The main HDMI input use the HDMI ARC audio output to my sound bar just fine, but ARC audio out is not available for the game console output. You have to choose between optical and the speakers on the projector. The speakers on the projector are ok, but something on it rattles with heaver bass. I attempted to set up the audio with an optical cable, but I'm not sure if that's a projector or speaker issue that is unsuccessful. Regardless, it should not be an issue if the audio exits through the ARC audio out.

Next, you have to switch back to Android TV to adjust any settings. For some reason, the projector's UI does not work on the game console HDMI. What? So if you are trying to figure out why the audio isn't coming out of the speaker bar's ARC channel you have to switch back to Android TV. If you want to switch to one of the other HDMI input, you have to switch back to Android TV then to the HDMI other channel. Is it a small inconvenience, sure, but for the money you're paying, you'd think you'd have a higher quality of software running the UI.

Over all the projector is amazing visually and you can see the quality and hard work which went into developing the picture. Too bad all the money was spent on developing the picture and little on the usability of the device outside the spectacular view.

I had a normal bulb projector for 5 years now and it was finally time to upgrade to a UST. I’m so glad I did, this thing works amazing! It’s soooo much brighter than my old one! I can finally watch it during the day with the curtains open. I’m pretty amazed by the brightness. It was super easy to set up, plug it in and you’re good to go. I need to move my existing screen up because as all UST projectors, the image needs like 5-8” of vertical space from the base of the projector to the bottom of the image. Something to keep in mind! Love the googletv interface too! Overall great projector!

Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G device!!! I swear you can NOT even tell that it is a projected image when you pair it with a UST ALR screen (in my case the VividStorm UST ALR 120"). It looks like a giant LCD TV screen - I guess that's why they call it a "Laser TV" rather than a "projector"!! It's shocking beautiful and vibrant even when there is LOTS of sunlight - see the attached image! The image I uploaded is with sunlight shining directly on the VividStorm UST ALR 120" screen. It's freaking black magic, I don't know how this is possible. Expensive? Yes. Do you get what you pay for and even more? YES!!!!!!!!! And I've had no issues playing FPS games on my PS5 or Xbox Series X either. I did all the research and this device has the lowest lag time (by a big margin) of any UST projector currently on the market as of Oct 18, 2022.
