Product Description

The EGO POWER+ 21" Select Cut Self-Propelled Mower delivers performance that exceeds the power of gas. The Select Cut Multi-blade Cutting System is equipped with three, interchangeable lower blades; the Mulching Blade, High Lift Bagging Blade and Extended Runtime Blade. The Mulching Blade comes installed on the mower and is ideal for weekly mulching, giving you the mulching quality you would expected from a high-end gas lawn mower. The High Lift Bagging Blade provides extra suction ideal for bagging, leaving your yard free of clippings. The Extended Runtime Blade provides an optimal balance of cut quality and runtime for all around performance. All three blades can be used interchangeably based on your desired cut. The EGO Upper Blade is used in combination with the lower blade chosen to slice the grass into fine fragments; this greatly enhances cutting performance with all grass types. EGO’s Self-Propelled Touch Drive Technology comes from years of research and development. Touch Drive Technology puts complete control of the self-propelled system in the palm of your hands by using pressure to engage the system. Easily control the variable speed with a dial positioned at your fingertips for safe and convenient operation. EGO harnesses the power of the industry’s most advanced 56 Volt 7.5Ah ARC Lithium Fuel Gauge battery by delivering over 60 minutes of cutting time on a single charge.

Very nice, but …
5 Stars
Very nice, but …
Very Nice Things:(1) Twin blade “select cut” is quite effective at giving a neat cut. I’m guessing the arrangement provides a bit more lift to provide an even cut, even with the standard mulching blade.(2) Mulching seems better than my previous EGO, even traversing in a few longer areas of grass I have caused no clumping as the machine powered through and chopped the blades nicely. Probably that second blade effectiveness again.(3) Runtime seemed a bit longer, but that may just be my wishful thinking.(4) Headlights are a bit brighter.(5) I like the sleek and sporty design, including the way the headlights are integrated. I definitely be styling when cutting my grass, and enjoy the envious looks of my neighbors!Continued good stuff (reason I bought the EGO again):(1) Quiet for me and neighborhood.(2) No hassles with gas, oil, spark plugs, air filter & such.(3) Light & maneuverable.(4) Interchangeability of the batteries with the five other EGO tools I enjoy. But … (don’t you hate that word?): the one negative for me so far is the solution for engaging the self- propelling feature. The two embedded switches in the handle are not as holistic a user interface as the previous model. First time I used the new mower I wanted to move it over two feet after putting battery in; when putting my hand on the handle to give it a slight shove I unintentionally engaged the embedded switch and the mower started zipping away. Same thing when cutting; I typically use the drive when going up the slight rise in my front yard but not at other times and I find it counterintuitive to position my hands on the handle such that it doesn’t engage (particularly when maneuvering the mower when your hands tend to move around a bit). Vice-a-versa, once engaged if your hands move slightly it disengages too easily. I guess I could dial the speed back to zero after disengaging, but repeatedly dialing that off and on (and finding right speed when on) would be a PIA. I liked the previous scheme of the lever you would pull back to lie against the handle much better - was a more conscious and positive step to engage the drive, and easier to keep engaged as your hand moves about a bit on the handle. Safer too, IMHO. Maybe I’ll get used it it over time and find a new Zen, but (there is that dang word again) I doubt it.Overall a fine mower I definitely would buy again. I just hope EGO goes back to the previous drive engagement scheme sometime in the next ten years before I buy my next EGO mower!

So I’m not typically a review guy, but my new EGO mower has compelled me to write one. This mower is a game changer. I went from a gas, self-propelled Toro mower to the EGO 2125SP which is also self propelled.
Instructions: very well written but you don’t need any. Out of the box and mow-ready in 10 minutes.
Battery: charged very quickly and was adequate for my yard.
Power: awesome! Quieter than gas, as powerful and superior mulching ability.
Self-propelled: lighter and more Maneuverable than my Toro. Speed can be quicker than I can walk.

If you are waiting to make the change to battery. Wait no longer. This makes mowing far more enjoyable.

This was my first experience with a powerful battery powered piece of equipment so I was a tad skeptical that it would be as powerful as a gas mower. But shockingly it was equal and a tad better at self propelling.

PROs
- pretty much pre-assembled - just a few adjustments and putting on the output shoot
- battery charged faster than others I’ve owned and extra battery that came with the promotion ensured we had plenty for our 3/4+ acre lawn
- the original battery lasted for the majority of the lawn and stayed strong. Used extra one at the very end
- amazingly easy to start compared to combustion engines. I have always encountered trouble with starting the engine on first try but this was a breeze. I’d buy it again just for that (and no gas/oil mix).
- should be much lower maintenance if taken care of (I have a small electric weed wackier and it has sun perfectly several years so far.

PRO/CON
- The self-propelled was was powerful - but almost too much for a small person. When I first tried it, I felt like an owner being “walked” by their large dog. It pulled me along almost jogging. Since then o have reserved using it only for inclines for which it is perfect

CONs
- it’s heavy. Which is good as it keeps low to the ground when mowing but though it fold up easily, it’s heavy when carrying it into the shed. The instructions say it shouldn’t be left outside.
- worked slightly less well on a longer patch that hadn’t yet been mowed. Had to go over it twice. But never had to do that again as works well in subsequent mows.

I am happy with the purchase. The lawnmower is quiet. The chickens actually follow me around waiting for grasshoppers to be disturbed. They would not be anywhere near the gas mower. It is powerful enough to cut the thick coastal grass and mulch. I am happy with it. The battery does get drained fast. It is good to have a second battery to charge while you are using one. The battery charger will charge up the battery quickly so you can consider it the mandatory break time. I like that it stores vertically. Without the battery, the mower is still a bit heavy but manageable. The way the handle folds is very nice and sturdy. This mower is well thought out.

I have an EGO leaf blower and line trimmer, and like their products. My new lawn mower is no exception. This thing really does have power, stronger than my past few gas mowers (Craftsman). More than enough for dry, heavy (but not crazy) grass. It definitely made full width cuts at normal speed in sections that always get really heavy on my lawn that used to make me take half width cuts with my gas mower so it wouldn't die out or make me stop until it got back to speed.

It is just SO much easier to just press a button and go, and a LOT less dramatic cutting the lawn without all the noise and vibration. I wouldn't go so far as to say it makes it fun, but it is a lot better than it used to be. It does a nice job cutting the lawn and leaves it looking great. I also like the easily adjustable variable speed, and especially like the fact that you can use the self-propelled feature without having the blades spinning. A feature I never would have thought of, but it sure comes in handy when traveling across a street or driveway, running over debris, or just getting to your starting point - or back to the garage.

The only thing that would make this better, would be more battery life. My yard is not all that big, and I have the 10-amp battery, but it was not able to finish the whole thing. I did have some heavy grass, so was dipping into the 'extra power' on numerous occasions. I also am using it as a mulcher which cuts battery life a lot, and also used the self-propelled mode just about 100% of the time. I have more batteries, so it was not a problem, but it would have been cool if I could bring a second battery along with me instead of going back to the garage and getting another. The batteries DO charge up pretty quickly, especially with the Turbo charger, so I feel you could pretty much go non-stop with 3 (or even 2 with more efficient mowing techniques) batteries. My other negative comment has to do with backing up after propelling forward, especially if you are going back and forth in an area. Occasionally it would lock the wheels, and I would tap the throttle quickly to let it freely roll backward. I admit that could be operator error, or at least education, so I don't count it as too much of a flaw.

None of that matters much though, when you push a button and go cut your lawn, in a relaxed, much quieter environment. No filling gas cans, changing oil, fowling plugs, clogging air filters, etc. Sure, I'd like it to be even better, but it is already at the top of electric mowers, which have, or will, revolutionize how we mow our lawns.

I received this mower 1 day ago and charged the battery quickly. The mower is so easy to use, can move faster than any gas mower I have owned, and, you can shut off the self propelled feature or used it at a very slow speed. The noise level is low and the cut is a "golf course" quality, it does a great job. Be prepared for the registration, you have to register this model 3 times, your must register the mower, battery, and the charger separately. Be sure to have your receipt scanned in because you will have to upload a copy for each device. Great mower, I bought one for my daughter's house and then one for me ( my gas mower died thank goodness. It really is great not having to smell gas fumes. Thank You.

Had an elderly Honda 53 which became rusty. I thought of a straight replacement as it had served me well.
Which? referred me the Ego. I was pleasantly surprised to find a 53. It is about 10 kilos lighter which was a big plus as i grow old. The collection bucket seems to hold more than previous mower which saves time and mess. Little bit tricky to get accustomed to controls. I live on a slope and lawn is not straightforward but i find it easy and quick with the Ego. The battery easily copes. I have only used the Ego 5 times but so far seems an excellent purchase.
