So here’s a detailed & honest review: I got the 3inch one for a full sized mattress in October - put it together in November - used it for 2ish months and took it off in January - tested my bed back without it to now - here are thoughts by end of FebruaryTaking it out the box was fine, took 24-48hours to expand, didn’t smell weird or anythingHowever in last 2 photos you can see it didn’t quite expand to a complete rectangle and some edges were slantedInitially I got this because I had horrible back pain and was trying to figure out how to sleep better - in the 2ish months I slept on it, my back pain got worse - taking it off I’m just back where I started. Here’s what I think was the issue - you can see in some photos it dents down when you put weight on it (obviously this happens) , I loved the feeling of it , it was comfy , but as soon as I slept on it so my weight was on it for hours at a time, the indents became kinda like crevices that I would get stuck in, and I move around alot in my sleep so I would end up sleeping all wonky and lumpy on it after my body shape indented and then wouldn’t change - (I hope this makes sense)I think the 3inch maybe is the issue and with a 1 inch or something it would allow you to move with the indents more for support verses get stuck in the indents and no correct support. Not sure though.Obviously I can’t return it now and I have no idea on how to get it back into a box haha, so I don’t know what to do with it yet its just shoved into a closet, also sucks I’m back to square one on how to make my bed comfier for my back pain(Also other details: the bed I have is from the same company! It’s the 12inch green tea infused one, Only 4/5 years old (I think it’s just too stiff for me) - & I weigh 150 if you’re wondering the weight on the topper)Anyways this was a lot of information, but I hope some of this helps anyone

I literally had this sitting still boxed up for TWO years. I finally gotten around to using it, I figured since it's been in a box for multiple years it wouldn't expand... I was WRONG!

I let it sit and expand for 8 days. Didn't smell like the others normally do, expanded fully. It is firm but plush if that makes sense, nice and sturdy and GREAT to sleep on.

I live in Phoenix it's the summer time currently and it doesn't leave me sweating at night like my old mattress topper I bought from Target did.

I'll be buying another one to make a dog bed out of.

I've had the 2 inch for about a week now. Before you open the box decide where you'll be laying it down to fully de-compress which takes roughly 24hrs. You need to be gentle with it when you take it out of the box and begin to unroll it while it is still in the plastic sheeting. It comes folded in half and then rolled up so it looks small. I gently cut the bottom of the sheeting and it started to expand a little. I slit it open along the edge of one side to let it expand. When I tried to separate the foam (it is folded in half) I found it sticks together. If you're not careful it can rip. I did it a little at a time every 10 minutes or so as it was expanding. Eventually I cut along the other side of the plastic sheeting and unfolded the plastic which made a large sheet of plastic that was protecting it from my living-room floor. You need to let it lay somewhere to fully expand so plan in advance where you will do that...best to have a spare room away from kids or pets. You could put it on top of an old blanket or a drop cloth if you don't want to take the time to open the plastic the way I did though.

When I put it on the bed the next day, I was surprised how the 2 inches made it actually harder for me to get into my bed so BEWARE of that if you have thick mattresses or are buying it for an older person. I really can't sit on the edge of the bed anymore like to put on socks without a struggle. I'm 5'3"

It seems pretty comfortable compared to having the mattress poking me....but then again, I finally got around to rotating the mattress and that could have helped too. I put this foam pad over my regular mattress pad. I knew there wasn't going to be enough room to put it underneath and I saw some questions about the product where people wondered that. There are no instructions on the subject in the box but there are 3 blank greeting cards in there? One is a thankyou card you write your own message and two Hello you blank cards. They seem very high quality for cards but without envelopes they are pretty useless....and who really sends out those cards anymore? I felt a little guilty throwing them out but I am trying to fight my clutter habits. Although I guess it was a nice gesture, it seems wasteful to include them.

Laying on the bed feels nice. I do sink in after a few minutes but it is still comfortable UNTIL I start tossing and turning which I do often. My problem is it somehow makes it a little harder to support myself with my arm to flip myself. I've been having some shoulder pain in the mornings and it could be that or many other things but the truth is every night I start off saying this is really nice and every time I get out of bed I say I don't like it. It is a cheap fix to an uncomfortable mattress. Because it's hard for me to dig my heels in or my arm into the mattress to turn myself, I can only guess that is why some people say their pad ripped. Just wanted to give a review because I find reviews very helpful when shopping. Something to consider if you are buying this for an older person or someone with a disability.

I purchased this mattress topper to replace another one that made me so hot that I basically wasn't sleeping. I thought it was just perimenopause, but thought I'd blame my topper before I blamed my hormones, and as it turns out, I was correct.

After reading a ton of reviews, I opted for this product because of the lack of mention of people sleeping hot. I saw several reviews mentioning that the topper didn't fully expand, but I figured I'd take my chances. Note that I've used memory foam toppers for every mattress I've owned over the last 20+ years, so I'm not inexperienced with how they feel and behave.

When it arrived, I was impressed by how compact it was, but surprised by its light weight. I removed it from the box and bag and allowed it to expand over a period of about a week in my guest room because I was too tired and lazy from lack of sleep to strip the bed.

Once I did finally get it on the bed, I was again surprised that the feel of this topper was much firmer than any others I'd previously owned. The only way I can describe it is that lying down on it initially feels like you're resting on top of a block of floral foam. If you've ever felt that substance before, it's quite firm - almost hard - but then gives way to gentle pressure. The difference is that floral foam will stay indented, and this topper returns to its original shape...

...or at least, it's supposed to. I've found that this pad tends to stay very compressed and flat in any areas where there is a significant amount of pressure (so for me, as a back and side sleeper, under my bottom/back, or under my hips/shoulders) for significantly longer, meaning that if I sleep in one area on my back for a while, then roll over onto my side, the divot from my back sleeping makes my body want to roll back into it. It's very strange, and I've never seen memory foam react so slowly before. It does a decent job at cushioning pressure points, but the area under my butt gets so compressed (like compressed to the point that it feels like it's fresh out of the package) that I might as well just be lying directly on the mattress itself. The other issue is that there is a portion of one side of the topper that has a bulge between 2 slopes, as well as a pointy part that sticks out away from the edge of the topper. It's difficult to explain, but it's definitely a manufacturing defect. It took me several days to notice it because I initially thought it was just a depression where I'd rested my knee near the edge of the bed, but when it persisted, I took a closer look and realized that it was an issue with the topper itself. And now the thing essentially can't be returned because it will never fit back inside the box it came in.

On the plus side, I sleep SO much cooler than I did with the last traditional memory foam topper. Once upon a time I had a wonderful topper from Costco that didn't make me sweat like a wh*re in church, but every one since then has increased my sleep temperature to some degree (degree...get it? Get it?) so in that regard, it's...comfortable?

Would I buy it again? Uh, no. Manufacturing and performance are questionably low, but if I ever need a piece of foam to mold to the shape of something, never to return to its original form for shipping or something, this would be my first choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made sleeping on my old spring mattress a dream
Reviewed in Canada on January 20, 2022

I don't often review products unless they're books. If I do, it's because I'm either really happy with them or really unhappy. Luckily, this time it's the first one. It may in fact be the best thing I've purchased in the past year.

Here's how it is. I have an old mattress, spring type, with spots where the springiness isn't as strong and so finding a comfortable sleeping position could be a bit of a trial. I probably should just get a whole new mattress, but I'm cheap, and worried about satisfaction... if I'm going to drop a lot of money on a mattress, I want to be sure I'll like it, and I've never really slept on a memory foam long term, and some research suggested that memory foam sometimes had a problem with smelling weird or being too hot--although gel-filled ones like these aren't supposed to be as bad--and what if I get one and get rid of my old mattress and wind up not liking it. Yadda yadda yadda, I was dithering for a long time. Then I decided to take a lesser risk and try a mattress pad, figuring it'd let me try out and see how that heat problem might be... if it turned out to be intolerable, I only spent a little money to find out, and in the meantime, it might help me sleep a little more comfortably.

Boy did it help. The pad isn't super thick (the 2-inches is from bottom to the textured foam peaks I think, so at its thinnest points it's probably half that), but it's good enough to do the job for me and smooth out all the uncomfortable spots in my own mattress. I've had it for a little under a month now, and from the first day I put it on, I've slept loads more comfortably, and rarely wake up in pain like I used to, and am in generally a better mood. I guess I didn't realize just how uncomfortable it was with that old mattress, gotten used to suffering. Like having an egomaniacal sociopath reality TV star as US President, once you don't have to deal with it everyday, even if there are still tons of problems in the world, everything just looks better all around.

My nose isn't particularly sensitive, but I noticed no particular smell (unpleasant or otherwise) and used it the evening I received it (after letting it bounce back from the tight packing for a few hours). No problems with it becoming uncomfortably hot, either, so I guess the gel did its job, although granted I haven't tried it out in the thick of summer yet. If it does become a problem, I'll update. Similarly if it somehow wears out quickly. A month's not a long time to judge a mattress by. But I'm giving it five stars anyway because right now I'm so pleased I bought it.

If I have any complaint it's that it tends to, over a few days, slide off-center from the mattress (even when both are covered by a fitted sheet), but I'm not sure that's a problem a pad like this is responsible for solving, and it's easy enough to pull it back when noticed. If having to do that regularly is the price I pay for such good sleep, I'll happily pay it.
