Taste better
The biggest factor for me with water is taste. The plus filter taste cleaner than the standard but is still not on par with pur filters. The digital tester score on the plus is lower compared to the standard so claims of a denser filter seems to be true. Almost the same price as the standard so it's a pretty good upgrade in my opinion for better taste.

I tried the standard filter that came with a large water dispenser and tasted something similar to chlorine in the water. I don't know about other people, but I'm not fond of tasting chlorine, so I upgraded to the plus version of the filter in hopes of avoiding chlorine water. I'm happy to share that this filter does in fact work and also eliminated that chlorine flavor from the water. The only thing that I see as a drawback is the price. I feel like the standard filter should be cheaper and this variant take the previous price of the standard. Still, for what it does I can't complain too much and will definitely continue to purchase.

I'm a long-time user of Brita water filters. I've had the pitchers in the past, and currently have the large dispenser. I've been using the blue Brita "Elite" filters for years now, and I'm really not sure why I'd choose the "Plus" filter over the "Elite".

The "Plus" filter product page has a comparison chart, which shows that the Plus lasts for 2 months and filters out 10 different contaminants, while the Elite lasts for 6 months and filters out 30 different contaminants. The Elite seems to be the better product: better filtering, longer lasting, more cost-effective.

Now, between the Standard and the Plus filter, I'd certainly choose the Plus. The Standard also lasts for 2 months but only filters out 5 contaminants. So the Plus is just better than Standard. But I'm really confused as to why Brita decided to introduce this Plus option in the first place. Standard and Elite seem like enough options to me.

As for the filter itself, it's a Brita filter and it works as you'd expect. I live in a major metropolitan area with safe tap water, but I just prefer the taste of filtered water. Really, I'm not sure I can tell the difference between water filtered using the different varieties of Brita (Standard vs. Plus vs. Elite), so these ones are just fine.

I bought water bottles with an infusion attachment to add fruit and a touch of Splenda to encourage me to get enough water. After trying this Brita Plus filter, I no longer need to add fruit or anything! IMHO: nothing is as good as natural, fresh, mountain water but this is as close to it as you’ll get from filtered water.
