    I had two Brita pitchers I'd ordered 18 months ago, one red and one white. The red pitcher developed a big crack and a little piece of the lid broke off, so I ordered what I expected to be an identical red pitcher. As you can see from the pictures:- the new handle sticks out farther- the new lid is substantially different, although I suspect it is less prone to breakage- the new pitcher is slightly taller (hard to see because the taller part is transparent)- the new red is quite different, although the extent of difference is not really obvious in my photoOverall, I think the new lid design is an improvement, but the increased size of the handle is not, and in general, the new pitcher seems to require more space. I liked the old red color better than the new, but that is just a personal preference. The old lid was clearer about when it was time to change the filter, but that should be easy to get used to. I just wish the changes had been made obvious to me when I placed the order.

    I read a few articles on the old Brita and how it was falling short of some filtering, so ventured into the research - UGH! Given ease of use, price & brand recognition, I decided on the new 'blue' Brita filter which is improved and filtering more toxins. It is all the above and the water does taste different. To my surprise i like the bigger container (i thought it would be too heavy for me) but i don't have to fill it as much and love that it will tell me when to replace the filter; which goes for about 6 months instead of 3. it's only me, so i always wondered whether a filter could have lasted longer for me. Be sure to get the container with the lite on top that tells you when to refill with the BLUE filter (that's the NEW one). And you don't have to keep pulling the cover off to refill, it flips up. I think it's worth the money.

    This thing has been a life saver in our household. We use to go through bottle after bottle of water from Walmart. And got tired of all that waste and looked for an alternative. We found this and will not be turning back. We filter our well water with this as I have sensitive kidneys that can lead to kidney stones due to high mineral content. We also give this to our animals and they love it. They won't drink the tap water anymore. It fits perfectly in our small frigerator, the only downside is filling it up because we use it so much. Filling it up is very easy. Just push the top open, fill to the fill line and wait for filtration. The stability after using it for months is great, no broken handle or anything. We would have gone through probably 90 or more bottles of water if it wasn't for this thing by now. Amazing. And I love the filter options and that it tells you when to replace.
