It works eventually after deleting System and setup again
If you're like me, installed this USB drive since the beginning, then you may experience the same issue which no motion clips saved after the trial period ended. I am using outdoor cameras, so they are supposed to work with this USB drive. To fix the issue, I tried to unplug the sync module and plug in again, reject the USB drive and install again, delete the sync module and add again. None of them works... I tried to call customer service, but the wait time is just too long for me.Then eventually I made the BIG effort to delete the system : Settings > Device and System Settings > select the system under Systems > Delete System. Afterwards, I add the sync module again, and add the cameras by scanning the QR codes on the back. Yes, I have to TAKE DOWN the cameras from outdoor and scan them again to add them back... Then the motion clip notifications and saving to local storage are just working fine!Summary: Blink software is NOT automatically saving motion clips to your local storage after your trial period ends if your USB drive was installed since the beginning. You have to go through the process of deleting everything, and setup the system, sync module, and cameras again. This is a frustrating experience and it works eventually. Hope this tip helps.

I went with the Blink brand because I wanted to be sure of compatibility with the entire system. Probably not needed, but... Blink support is absolutely terrible. I have been waiting for over a year for help with my previous system, and no replies to questions regarding the subscription details when upgrading. Luckily, I do not have the same issues with XT3 as I did with the XT2. XT3 is working perfectly.

EDIT: AFTER THE FREE TRIAL RAN OUT, THE FLASH DRIVE WORKED FINE.

OLD REVIEW
Before I got this, I used another non-blink USB stick, which worked fine...slow, but fine. I bought this one expecting it to work better, but it does not. It does store the clips, but I cannot view them on my phone. I don't feel like I should have to troubleshoot when the non-blink USB works fine.

It seems like this was the only local storage option avaliable at the time of my purchase. Im not sure if you can use other USB Flash drives that have a larger capacity than this option. I am also unaware if the sync 2 module would or does support laeger sizes in the appropriate format as local storage and if so up to what capacity is allowed. If this is the case I would suggest going the USB Flash drive route over this option because you could purchase multiple in a package deal then rotate them month in and month out to keep old recordings archived for longer periods of time, because at the moment I believe even with a Blink Security Plus Subscription plan the maximum number of days you can store past recordings before they auto delete is 60 Days max.
