I am submitting a second review, as the first was clearly so negative that Amazon would not allow it.
I have calmed down a bit now, as I was frustrated and annoyed at a few things, the day this item failed, and this was the last straw.
I followed all the instructions, having received this very timeously, and being VERY impressed at just how strong the magnetic ring clamp was, when I tried it out.
As it happened, it was too strong. To explain, I stuck the sticker pad to my dashboard, as suggested, opting for the broader flexi base, rather than just the small pad that came with the ‘bare bones’ holder. I left it 48 hours (and more), so that maximum adhesion would take place (going by the leaflet accompanying the items).
I was slightly disappointed that there was only one sticker pad, and no spare - THIS would have perhaps sorted my issue, but I’ll never know, now.
I then added the holder to the base, using the sticker that was already fixed to it (no option but to use it, and as it happens, it’s adhered VERY strongly).
But on the second day of using the phone holder, I noticed, as I removed the phone (sliding it off, rather than pulling it, as the magnets really are VERY strong), that the base had lifted at the back, where it sits closest to the windscreen.
[ already used a smaller, non-rotating magnetic arm holder, for my phone, and it adhered strongly to my dash, which I cleaned and dried thoroughly, as per instructions, giving 24 hours before placing the adhesive pad, in the first place! I wanted to change to this one, which seemed more powerful and with the rotate option, as well. Well, that was my mistake.]
I replaced the base, which had peeled up, making sure it was in full contact with the dash from the inside out and outside in. I went to work, leaving the base to re-adhere, and 9 hours later, I used the holder again, on my way
Except when I arrived, the base and holder came with me, when I tried to slide the phone off the holder. It detached almost entirely, peeling away and only one thin strip, millimetres wide, stayed stuck to the dash (ironically where the item had detached earlier!),
I replaced the whole thing, as I could not detach the arm from the base, due to the small sticker’s level of adhesion, so I folded it up, pushed it back on my dash (dried and cleaned AGAIN), and checked it the next day. At which point, it simply peeled off in my hand, once again.
The 3M pad was either flawed, or not 3M, as the smaller worked perfectly well.
So this product was a waste of money, and I have returned to my smaller holder.
I cannot, therefore, give this anything other than a one star (five given for the ‘suction’ power of the magnets, which are superb and a great shame it is then made to look so bad by shoddy base materials.
My advice is to look elsewhere, unless they sort this issue out. I’ve since seen reviews speaking of the same issue, so it’s not new. And that annoys me, once again.( Sigh… life is too short for this. Juuuust breathe…🧘♂️
EDIT - the seller tried my patience once again. They offered to refund the full payment, which I accepted, and offered to send them the unit back. They then contacted me, asking me to go outside the Amazon payment scheme - something sellers are NEVER meant to do, by Amazon marketplace rules - saying the Amazon marketplace repayment scheme was not working correctly.
I forwarded their message to Amazon and have not heard a word from this mob since.
In short, DO NOT TRUST THEM. People who behave in this manner are sketchy, at best. (And breeeeeathe, once again… sigh.😒)
