I have been using a wired 360 controller for many years. I decided to upgrade to a newer wireless Xbox controller as my old was getting a little worn in places after so many years. I also thought it might be nice to have a wireless version.
This newer Xbox controller looks decent enough, and has a good feel in my hands. Setup was easy, and I had no issues with the packaging.
After using it for a few hours I noticed the 'A' button didn't always work. I tested the controller on the first 'controller testing' website I found, and I confirmed the A button would only work with a hard press. If I tried pressing it lightly, or at an angle - it simply didn't work. All the other buttons seemed to work fine, but unfortunately the A button is probably the most important one, so I had to return it.
It was a bit disappointing to have to request a return on literally the same day it arrived. The process was simple enough, and I was sent a replacement the next day.
The first thing I did with the 2nd controller was test all the buttons on the same testing website... and the Y button wasn't perfect. It wasn't as bad as the first controller I received, and Y gets less use in general. On the test it 'blinks' if I do a light press and hold. No such problems with any other buttons. I decided to keep this one despite it.
To have such problems with two brand new controllers does not leave me with a lot of confidence in the build quality of newer Xbox controllers. How long it will last I don't know, but it is an improvement over the old one.
